Why is the book of Esther in the Bible?

There is no mention of "God" or "Lord" or even prayer or anything religious in the entire book, nor is there mention of any feast called "Purim" as being an Israelite celebration in the rest of the Old Testament, nor in the New Testament.

Just wondering. I just finished reading it right now and I'm quite disturbed. Eating Haman's ears? WTF?

The Bible is not the history of man. This is evident because only Middle Eastern people (Semitic, Ethiopian, Egyptian, Persian, etc.) are the only nations mentioned in the Bible. It is a VERY local story, tracing the short history of one people (Israelites) in relations with others. The Bible NEVER tells of any history outside of the Mediterranean world, which proves it is NOT a "history of man."

Yes, I did read it. Can you explain to me why the feast of Purim is not mentioned anywhere else in the Bible? Can you explain to me why god would allow a book that doesn't glorify him in "His word?" This book just glorifies a brutal and bloodthristy people who like cannibalism. Nowhere is prophecy mentioned, nor Mosaic Law, or anything in relation to Israel. Nor is any other part of this book mentioned anywhere else in the entire Bible. This leads me to believe that:

a. Esther is some made up story of events that never happened
b. There is no b

The book is about the sovereignty of God and His controlling the affairs of man. He completely turned the Haman/Mordecai situation around by using Esther. Remember how women were treated at this time.......it's a miraculous account. I just got done teaching 13 weeks through the Book of Esther.

It shows how the hand of God works in events and our lives. If you have a study bible most explain this in the preface to the book. Hope this helps explain.

New Testament was written about a Jew but was hardly written 'by' Jews and certainly wasn't compiled and edited by Jews. I don't believe that the people to whom the NT is attributed actually existed, or if such figures around Jesus existed, I don't believe that they wrote the NT in any form near what we have today.

What does any of this have to do with the book of Esther?
