People who know cars-HELP, need advise
I found this 95 Mustang GT in my area for sale for 6500 obo. the kid is 18 like myself and needs money for college so says he needs to sell it no matter what.
i talked to him about what upgrades he did and he named off a ton but cant remember them all, but he said he pretty much replaced all the small parts, and here are the things he's included in the add.
cold air intake
Mac heaters
Basani X pipe
Flowmaster
custom hood
Viper alarm
18" wheels
now see here's the part that concerns me.....it has almost 180,000 miles! How much longer can this car last before it needs some major fixes?

I'd be very weary of purchasing that car. For that price, no way. 18 year old kids tend to rag the hell out of sports cars. Find another car.

If its got the 5.0 in it, its quite common to be able to put more than 200k on the motor. In 95 they did a mid year change to the 4.6 modular motors. Still a good engine, but nowhere as good as the 5.0.

X2. In all honesty, go find another one. Yeah it's a stang, it looks sweet, but that thing is ready to fall apart after having an 18 yr old beat the hell out of it.

That's still a rip man, unless you have the money to rebuild the tranny and more than likely the engine in less than a year, find another vehicle. I was a mechanic for several years, and worked on several mustangs, and can tell you there will be several repairs that will be needed to be made to that vehicle in the near future. I was weary of buying a 96GT with 130,000 miles on it, just be aware it is more likely than not going to become a money pit in the near future.

I'm not a fan of Mustangs at all, but if you like them, get one. I would try to find something newer than '95. Get into a 2000+ if you can afford it.

They didnt use the 4.6 until the 96 model year. 94 and 95 GTs and cobras had the 5.0.
And 5.0's last a loooong time. And are cheap to rebuild anyway. Id buy the car but not for more than about $3500...thats a lot of miles.

I'm not sure of your age, but insurance is something to think about also. Mustangs for under 30 year old males insurance is pretty high. 6k is a little limiting for fast cars unless you go older, and as pointed out in the thread already, most of them are already beat up. Even more so if they have mods.

Stock for stock, you have to be kidding.
Even the 328's aren't as quick as the GT.
To op : No way. A '95 GT with 180K, driven by an 18 year old, with mods installed = ****box on wheels within a month. Plus the price is ridiculous.

i would stay away from that car but i would check to see if it has been rebulit, if not its not the motor you should worry about its the tranny if its pushing over 300lbft of torque but i dont think it is.
