Another Reason Not To Eat High Fructose Corn Syrup
I saw this article on MSN that gives another good reason not to eat or drink anything with high fructose corn syrup. It talks mostly about a study done on sodas that contain HFCS. Stick to water people!

Isn't that crap in Gatorade?
I always look at the ingredients for fruit drinks. If I look at the label and see corn syrup/high fructose corn syrup, it's pretty much automatically crap. It's like liquid sugar.........you can taste it in Gatorade......yuck, that thick, syrupy texture, if ya know what I'm saying. Nasty, and bad for you.

It's a sad reality that the majority of the N. American population consumes soft drinks in greater amounts than water.

Not even diet soda either, they just down 200 calories worth of pure sugar in a little can of liquid without even thinking about it. It's dumbfounding.

I remember the days when I would drink those fruit juices (Minute Maid/Tropicana) and actually thought it was healthy and that I was doing my body a favor. My parents actually encouraged me to drink it and told me it was good for me.. It was only when I did my research that i found out it was bad.

^^^^^^^^^^Tropicana's orange juice is great though, with only the orange juice. Some of their drinks do have the artificial sweetner crap in it though.

Anyone else see the parallel between trans fats and HFCS?
Both are modified/artificial products. The body doesn't know how to handle either of them. They became popular in the late 70's and early 80's (Yeah, Crisco's been around for awhile, but the crusade against saturated fat made them much more popular in the 80's).
Since the late 70's and early 80's, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity have really taken off. I also seem to recall a study that linked increased cholesterol (most cholesterol is endogenous, meaning that it's created by our own body, specifically the liver. I believe it's 70%-80%) to fluctuating blood sugar levels created by HFCS consumption. The body may be protecting itself from fluctuating blood sugar levels by increasing cholesterol. I can't cite the source of this study, I remember reading about it a few years ago and I simply can't remember where I read it.

If there's a small amount of sugar, and HFCS is near the end of the ingredient list, I'll eat/drink it, but if it's right up front, no way I'll touch it.

1g of sugar, HFCS is more than 2/3 down the ingredient list, I'm not worried.

Amazing how the FDA still allows this poison in our food supply, but yet they ban Ephedra.

Watch it. Some ketchups, including Heinz (depends on type) has it in there. I ate at a restaraunt tonight, looked at the label for it and it said high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. Bleh.

That's true. it's not easy either being a single parent with two kids. But i think to myself what is the most important thing in my life ...Our health..Nothing else. So then I find a way. Just do the best you can. I switched about 4 yrs ago or so? And I cant even eat conventional food now. I am spoiled..so even if i was broke i couldn't do it.
