Baseball Season Ain't Over Yet!!
I'm lovin' the football talk (and the smack) over at the Football Thread, but don't forget that there's still a month of regular season play left in the baseball world! Not to mention all the October fun that's about to take place for "some" of us....
GO METS!!!!!
Who's your team? Will they be playing in October?

Baseball? Isn't that the sport for whiny, overpaid children?
Also, I grew up by Detroit - after '84 we had no baseball team. Or football, for that matter.

forget baseball, I'm having to much fun with that 1 guy I've been talking smack to in the football one, but being from S Fl I was a cardinal fan before the Marlins came around.

Yeah, I have not watched baseball in eons, plus I moved out of MI. I do know that I actually watched a little bit during the playoffs last year and, living 2 hours from NYC, it was great to see them take the Yankees.

I love the Braves but they are really upsetting me at this point. They suck right now. Atleast the pitching does. They can score plenty, just dont ask the pitching to hold a team down. I hate our rotation. I loved Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery. Now that was the best!!

Hate the Braves, being a Marlin fan, but that was the best rotation in baseball, no doubt about it. It seamed every year you had your control artist"Maddox" lefthanded ace "Glavine", and pure heat "Smoltz", and having Leo Messoni(sp) as your pitching coach does'nt hurt either. Used to dread that rotation when we played you guys.

I can honestly say that I love Glavine more with the Mets, than I hated him with Atlanta. That's saying a lot

Gotta give the Brewers the love...I mean really, who doesn't love those that are named after people who make the nectar of the gods?
Seriously, it's super exciting to even sniff a playoff race...haven't been able to do that for 25 years. At least the Cubs made the playoff recently (Bartman..doh!)

I'm more afraid of the Cardinals sneaking in past the Cubs and Brewers. They know how to get there. The future looks good for the Brewers. Will they spend the money to keep those guys? History says no.

That video wouldn't play for me, but I'm just guessing that it's the Randall Simon video of him taking a bat to a racing Sausage. If I remember correctly, I think the Sausage that got knocked down, didn't sue or anything, just got a bunch of autographed stuff. Kudo's to her(it was a girl who got whacked) for not trying to make more out of it than what it was.

We both claimed the ESB once this year so far. I don't think we'll meet again in the playoffs though.

Since when are the Sox an underdog? They won it in 2004, currently have the best record in baseball and Vegas has them favored to win the WS this year.

I agree, the Red Sox shouldn't be considered an underdog. Until the Red Sox win a couple of more World Series we'll have that mindset though. The Yanks have been the "evil empire" for too long and we have that stuck into our mindset. Things are still looking good for the Sox. Let's face it, you've got to be looking over your shoulders at where the Yanks are at.

It's not the Yanks fault though; the Sox brought "the curse" upon themselves.
And now.. even with a World Series win, and the best record in baseball this season.. they're still looked at as the underdog. I love it... LOL

By who? I don't know anyone here in New England personally that views them as such and not too many panicking on sports radio. Why should we? Since the All-Star break, the Yanks have a better record by 1 game....that's it! And they have been playing above their ability to do so. I'll take our pitching staff all day long over the Yanks. I'm not dismissing the Yanks at all, their lineup is unsurpassed in baseball, but I've seen pitching time and time again be the deciding factor. Not to mention the Sox rank 4th in overall hitting in the AL, so they aren't that far off.
