eating LOTS of fruit
lately for some reason I've been craving fruit. Maybe because I know I'll have none for 3 months while I'm in the deserts of Africa...I don't know. Anyway, most of my carbs come from fruit. And some days I eat 500 calories (or more?) of fruit.
For example, today:
1 lb sliced mango
7 oz blueberries
2 peaches
1 medium banana, 2 really small
3 plums
is this bad? Should I be getting my carbs more from other sources instead? I know fruit is good...but too much fructose gets stored in the liver rather than replenishing muscle glycogen, I think. Anyway, I guess I'm just asking if I should cut back on it or if its ok.
as for it fitting macros, I'm eating about 2000 calories a day, 132 g. protein, 304 g carb (again, mostly fruit!), 25 g. fat. I workout at least twice a day also (lifting then either boxing or wrestling in the evening)
thanks
-Roma

Since you work out so much and are using those carbs then I don't see much wrong with it. Especially since you will be without it in the coming months. But when you get back I would consider replacing some(just a bit.. ) fruit with complex carbs like yams, quinoa, ect, just for the nutrients.

It's really your choice where you get your carbs from! As long as it all balances out, I don't see a problem with it. I love fruit a lot too. I have a huge sweet tooth and don't know what I'd do without it! haha

that's way too much - sugar craving can be associated with candida - basically bacteria that craves this in order to reproduce

I don't think fruit is necessarily a bad thing, but it's not the best carb source out there. I would decrease the fruit a bit and add more complex carbs to your diet.

It's fine, it's been shown to be better than getting your kcals from starch. You will be getting a lot more protective phytochemicals as well. ref:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/en...ubmed_RVDocSum
(this diet included 2.1 kg of fruits per day and was absolutely stellar for lipid profile improvement, equivalent to statins but without the side effects)
If you have any concerns with the fructose load then just spread them out during the day rather than having them several at once. Also keep your dietary fiber high by also including lots of vegs, this will help to slow down the sugar uptake.
I was a whole-grain starch eater for about 15 years, but then I got smart and switched to fruit. Now I can't imagine eating any other way, and I get anxious when I can't find a particular one that I am craving. When I was an undergrad I had a roomate who grew up in one of the Eastern bloc countries where fruit was a very rare treat. I never forgot that. Get it while you can! One day it might be way too expensive to eat a lot of fruit. Grains will always be a lot cheaper, from the cost/kcal standpoint.
