I can't sleep....
Since school just started I have to wake up at 5:30... I go to bed at 9 but I just can't go to sleep, I probably only get 7 hours of sleep. What can I do besides taking sleeping pills or warming up milk?

Isnt sleeping also part of lifting? lol from what i have read
What works well with me is watching tv till i get bored and i fall asleep, if not i eat a big meal at night, and i get sleepy..
If none of this works, NyQuill, i used to use it in high school...and it knocked me out pretty nicely

I had to lol at that....
EDIT: I have the same problems sometimes. I like to do what someone else above posted, which is that deep breathing technique. It really forces you to stop thinking and only focus on your breathing which makes it much easier to sleep than when your mind is wondering off on stuff.

Take a hot shower 30 minutes before sleep time, avoid drinking close to when you are going to sleep, and make sure your room is as dark as possible.
A large amount of sleep problems are solely the result of too much light being present in the room.
Basically: There are hormones released that tell your body it's time to sleep or time to be awake. If your room has too much light when you're trying to sleep, your body is receiving conflicting messages.

Well on very rare occasions I don't.. Like if I stayed up super late and am already really tired. Is there something wrong with that? lol

I had the same problem. I take a multivitamin with breakfast and I expend more energy in the morning, allowing me to sleep easier as I have less energy at the end of the day. Whether or not science will agree or disagree with that, I don't know.
You can pick up 100 tabs of Centrum from Woolworths for about 20 bucks. A good investment allround.

If you workout in the same day then you should just workout harder. You will get tired easily but just don't push yourself so hard that you end up overtraining. You could also just do a ton of pushups on the floor until you are dead tired.
