Exclamation Newbie

Hey there,

I'm wondering if the more experienced members might be able to offer tips & suggestions on how to get started with serious training. I'm 32 and have trained (doing cardio & weights) for general fitness for many years but I have always wanted to take it to the next level. I'm not interested in competing at this point but I am interested in completely changing my body. Where do I start? It's daunting at this point and I don't know anyone that is in the same mindset at the minute to help kickstart my training. Help please!

i'd say get your diet in check first if it already isn't, then decide what kind of routine you want (split, full-body...how much cardio do you want to do based on if you want fat loss?)

Question

Thanks for the reply! I'd say I have a handle on the diet. (although I have to work on eating more consistently during the day - at work). I would like to devote 2 hours to working out per day. That's probably all I can do because I travel a lot with my job. I am starting with a personal trainer on Monday morning. I'm just looking for ways to bump up my workouts to see serious physical changes.

Any thoughts?

Check out some of the journals on here and books about bodybuilding (Arnold's Encyclopedia is a good one). I also recommend you start a journal on here yourself. You'll be suprised at how much help you'll receive from the people that visit your journal. It's also possible that by starting a journal you'll inspire someone less experienced (sometimes more experienced) than you.
