Weird sleep schedule... what about workouts?
hey, so i have a question regarding whether or not i should workout this week.. i've kept a later bedtime for the summer than i normally do at school. i go to bed at say 1am... at school, i go to bed much earlier, as i go to work at 5am monday-friday. so i'm using this week to "reset" my sleep clock. basically, go to sleep 3 hrs later every day, sleep 8hrs, and get up for the day. so here is the rest of my week:
Tues: 12noon - 8pm
Wed: 3pm - 11pm
Thur: 6pm - 2am
Fri: 9pm - 5am
thats my sleep schedule... what should i do about lifting? right now i do a 5day split, focusing on one bodypart per day... i'm planning on starting a new program though, only 3 days per week... maybe i should take the rest of this week off? any advice would be great!

Man that is weird sleeping patterns! If you can still get about 7-8 hours of sleep a day and find time to workout then continue.
But if you find yourself not getting much sleep and you're feeling tired then take the week off. Give your body some rest, it'll do you good.

If energy in the gym is an issue then you can have some extra carbs around your workout. Their impact on body composition will be minimal when used pre/during your workout.
I usually have some powdered gatorade & WPI mixed in water and start sipping it about 20 minutes pre workout. I'll usually finish the last 1/4 of it when done.
Also, if you are feeling run down on a particular day then just push it back a day. Sticking to a 7 day week isn't completely necessary. In your case you are going to just have to be flexible.
Think of your routine as Day1, Day2, Day3 instead of Mon Tues Wed. And as long as you get days 1-5 done in 7-9 days you'll be OK. Day1 doesn't always have to be on Monday. Know what I mean?

If you haven't taken a week off from training in a while (10 weeks or so), I'd probably just use the rest of the week to recuperate and get ready for your next workout program.

I always workout after I wake up. It doesnt mater what time of day I go to sleep when I wake up I always think its morning. I work nights and my sleep schedule is always changing depending on where my kids need me to drive them to.
