veggies in postwo meal
ok.. so what do u guys think ?? After my workout i`ll have my shake (whey + carbs).. and after 1 - 1.50 hour... i`ll have my protein + carbs.. but.. what if all my carbs in my pwo meal would be all from veggies.. (don`t worry about the amount i have to eat..)i would be taking about 35-40 carbs in that meal..
a carb is a carb right??
so.. what do u think?

Yes.
Eat your veggies!
Lots of people go with something typical like a steak or chicken + veggies / sweet potato / etc.

Starchy carbs are necessary for an optimally-delicious meal, but not much else .

Why not take advantage of the post workout insulin spike and eat some clean complex carbs Post w/o? Try cream of rice with some no sugar added jam + your veggies & protein.

sure u could have ur veggies as all of ur carb source.. but thats a **** load
why dont u go for variety and mix it up a bit and get like 1/2 a cup of brown rice.. or some WW bread.. and add some veggies on top of a sandwich or something
prob goes down a lot quicker and easier
and after u take ur shake u should try to aim to eat 45-60 minutes after.. dont want to wait too long now for that PWO meal after ur PWO shake

hey think about this....look back at the diet of our ancestors...they never ate oats, bread or grains...they were all about red meats, fruits and veggies...and they were a hell of a lot leaner, on an overall basis, than people today are.
so ya, id say if u like your veggies, f**k the grains...you'll be fine.

I usually eat lean meat, veggies, and a sweet potato.. but I get what you're saying and you'll be fine. I actually do strictly veggies more often during a cut bc it allows me to eat a ton of food w/o blowing up my calories

Idk what history classes you're taking, but from what I understand...grains were STAPLES in our ancestors diets..

OK. But do you really know what the rest of his diet and routine looks like?
I wouldn't be surprised if yours (and your workouts) are a bit different.
Cutting I too have mostly veg PWO, without even doing the shake (OMG!), with just a small amount of ground oats in my omelet.
But I also have faster acting carbs pre-WO. And re-feed every few days or when I feel I need to (rather than 1 blow-out cheat on weekends) and probably do a bunch of other 'stuff' that is different.
I guess if the OP is really asking 'is this an absolute no-no or could I do it and be successful under certain circumstances?' the answer is almost certainly, yes you could do that, some people do and some don't even bother with any carbs until 60-90 minutes PWO either, including the shake.
Presumably you are getting a decent amount of carbs from the shake, so for cutting it might not be a bad idea at all to have mainly or all veg in the meal.
For bulking and/or strength gains, I would definitely add some starchy/complex carbs. You can't refill glycogen in 1 meal and getting a steady stream of carbs for the 6-8 hours PWO is far more optimal then trying to jam them all in one PWO shake.

Check out some info on the paleolithic diet, it will set you straight on a lot of things. What he is referring to is that grains have only become staples in the human diet in the past 10K years or so, from the invention of agriculture. So our caveman ancestors (the hunter/gatherers) didn't eat grains (wheat, corn, rice, etc.) or starchy vegetables (i.e., beans, and potatoes).

They had a life span of like 23 years too, but boy were those cavemen stacked!! hahaha...
People today are obese because they are sedentary and eat alot of high-calorie/low-quality foods... think Big-Mac, potato chip, brownie, pepsi, milkshake attack in da face!
Don't blame whole grains man.
