OH my aching back...and legs!
I just came back from vacation. A little background on myself-I ride horses. I was on the equestrian team in college, and still ride when I can. (not as often as I'd like!)
On vacation, I always take my kids riding-we do the trail ride, but the owners know me and give me a "non-trail type" Horse. The ride is an hour or so, and I have no problem physically, ever.
Well, this year they offered a 3 hour night ride! Yippee, right? I signed right up, figured my daughter and I could bond, over some horses, and my husband watched the 3 boys. I managed to get the horse that was "spooky". which translates to "Scared of some stuff" lol. She was a handful, and wanted a free reign to run-not canter, not trot...but run. when we approached an area that she knew was a spooky area, she started hopping and dancing. Not normally a problem, but with a scared horse-it's a bit to control. I managed very well, and as the ride ended, the horse and I became pretty much good friends. I enjoyed the ride, because I like a challenge. My daughter got a horse gentle and predictable as an old dog-she had a blast! (She's still somewhat healing a broken tibia from April)
Well-that was Wednesday night (7-10 pm) and since thursday night, I am SORE!! My back is stiff as a board from the hopping, and my inner thighs are on fire, I feel the burn of really using them!
I have not been able to work my legs, abs, or get any cardio in at all.
I either have to ride a challenging horse more often, or realize that I am not a spring chicken and a 3 hour ride on crazy horse is not a good idea.
I'm leaning more towards finding a good stable around here.....
Anyone else do something out of the ordinary routine to destroy themselves?
