New WR Axle Press
My cuz brian schoonveld broke the WR axle press last weekend
old record->385
new record->397...FOR 4 REPS!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.marunde-muscle.com/videos...rd_397axle.mpg
2005 Fit Expo Strongman Contest
Overall Placings
1st Brian Schoonveld 36pts
2nd Travis Ortmayer 35.5pts(Ort81)
3rd Jesse Marunde 32pts
4th Odd Haugen 29pts
5th Jim Glassman 28pts
6th Dave Ostlund 24.5pts
7th Corey St. Clair 20.5pts
8th Grant Higa 10.5pts
The Fit Expo was awesome this year! The crowd was way bigger than last year. The best part of the show was announcer, Bill Kazmier, repeatedly referring to Brian Schoonveld as Brian "THE EARTH SHAKES BENEATH HIS FEET!" Schoonveld. Schoonveld broke the world record in the Apollon Axle Lift with 397 pounds. He easily push pressed it 4 times to prove that he is without a doubt one of the greatest pressers ever. Odd Haugen won the 400 pounds in each hand farmers walk with a distance of 37 feet, once again proving that he can hold onto anything that he can wrap his giant hands around. On the medley event only the two tallest competitors made it up all three power stairs with the 500 pound weight. Dave Ostlund edged Jesse Marunde out by 2 seconds, finishing with a smoking fast time of 30 seconds. Travis Ortmayer didn't surprise anyone by placing 2 nd in his first pro show. Travis won the deadlift with an INSANE pull of 1020 pounds. Schoonveld came back to win his 2 nd event of the day by dominating the 1010 pound yoke walk. He carried the giant weight 25 feet in 10 seconds. Finally it would be Ortmayer who would also win the stone lifting event in a very convincing fashion with a time of 23 seconds. The next closest time was Ostlund's 29 seconds followed by Marunde's 40 seconds.
congrats to our own Ort81 as well

You said someone deadlifted 1020lbs. I thought the world record was 933. Could you please explain this to me?

Well it's a strongman comp so reasons could include:
Using weights with diameter bigger than standard olympic 45s (smaller ROM)
Straps allowed maybe?
Fewer strict rules on hitching and other "cheat" (in the eyes of powerlifting) techniques.
Oh and Schoonveld is a BEAST!!!

I assumed it would be along the lines of being allowed to "cheat" more. But I don't think straps are allowed.

By the way, is all your family like this, poppa? I can imagine the family barbeques, a dozen giants cooking a three hundred pound tuna fish on a spit.

that he is..he should be the US rep to WSM this year IMHO....i hate(edited for the ones with the 6th grade education below...."hate" is in im not a fan, eg: how you 'hate' the badguy in wrestling, or 'hate' barkley if you're a jordan fan, etc....not saying he's not a great strongman or anything of the sort as you ****'s are implying, but simply stating he's not one of my favorites ) Kirit, it just seems he gets hurt every time at the world's level, moreso than previous american's

it wasnt on a conventional barbell
it was on a car-hold type apparatus, 15" off ground, to the sides

I only like Schoonie because he trains at Quads Gym (Ed Coan's gym) and I met Ed Coan at Jamie Reeves gym (Fitness World Gym in England).
If Schoonie wasn't Coan's mate, I wouldn't like him

bigpoppaproppy... hate is a strong word dude. especially in reference to someone with many fans. especially after you just anounced your identity. do you compete? if you do then you know how prevelent injuries are. untill you've made it to worlds you really can't can't imagine what is involved.
shame on you. you also make Brian look bad because I asume you got the info from him and I'm sure he doesn't wish his name associated with public bashing of our most recent two time national champ.

1) i dont use it that way..and yeah, you can have my identity all you want. if I upset one of his fans, not that I know that many, most strongmen i know also are not fans of his, they can come find me too. Most people use "hate" as a term for sportsfigures they dont like. welcome to modern society.
2) yes, I do, maybe if you posted more than once every 4 months to flame someone you'd know that....btw how's that juicing going mr. top level competitor?
3) he's been hurt every time he's went...yet he's our "best guy?" sure dont remember the new overhead press record holder getting hurt every time
4) no, I didn't, but you made YOURSELF look bad for assuming

also, I love how you always claim to be some great, top-tier strongman(and love to brag about juicing), but refuse to say who you are...suprising
brb guys, I'm gonna go start a new account real quick, username: Deadlifter....when I come back, I'm gonna call myself a Canadian professional strongman, ok? But you all should believe me, because I'm self-proclaimed important!

Proppy, still vicious for a moderator. if you let this post stand, please read the following statements as they are all true:
1.Kirit and your cousin, Brian Schoonveld, are friends, and I do not think Brian would approve of that kind of support.
2. Kirit has finished 3rd in the semi-finals at Worlds, that is also as high as Brian went.
3. Both Schoonveld and Kirit share status as being the only two TWO TIME American champions.
4. NO American has done anything at worlds in the past few years, there are reasons for that.
5. Kirit finished 7th in the IFSA World Championships in 2004 , defeating such athletes as Karlsen, all the Americans present, and many others.
6. Brian is the strongest presser in strongman right now, without a doubt.
7. There are reasons for American injuries at Worlds. I understand Kirit competed two weeks before Worlds this year, the rest of the athletes rested and trained for months.
8. Kirit is 6'2 285, the lightest American champ ever, to Brain's 345....so give the guy some credit...heck, give them both credit! this is why American strongman does not prevail....people spend more time bashing and putting them against each other.......
9. Kirit had the exact same type of back injury as your cousin, which forced him out of the sport for almost a year. You don't realize what these guys put themselves through.
10. Yes, I joined your forum to respond to this thread
yes, I am friends with Kirit and Schoonveld.

Perry in 2002,yes. Phil did not make the finals in 2003. I am not a troll. Your statements have no weight. Kirit has performed as well as anyone in WSM. A TV show to enthrall people like you, who catch a little bit and think you know everything. Kirit is a top level athlete, if you follow the sport, you know this. So is Schoonveld. If pfister is so good, why did Kirit Kick his ass two years in a row at nats? Did you ever think Worlds could be set up for Phil? DOn't bother with a stupid reply.

firts off, THIS IS A UNIVERSAL FORUM. THIS MEAN MEN LIKE ME FROM OTHER COUNTRYS AND USA POST ON THIS FORUM.
SECOND, KIRIT NEVER WENT TO FINALS. PHIL WENT TO FINALS.
THRID , WE HAVE A RIGHT TO OPNION. IF YOU NOT LIKE, LEAVE.
FORUTH, PHIL BEAT HIM IN 2001 US STRONGEST MAN. YOU THINK BECAUSE I LIVE OVERSEAS I DO NOT FOLLOW US?THINK AGAIN.
FIFTH, WSM IS NOT THE MEASURE OF STRONGMAN. YOU MUST THINK I LIKE WSM. I LIKE WSM BUT LIKE WORLD STRONGMAN CUP MORE.
EITHER POST LINK S TO INFO YOU HAVE OR YOU ARE GARBAGE.
IT DOES NOT MATTER IF KIRIT BEAT PFISTER. PFISTER WENT TO FINALS 2 TIMES, KIRIT NEVER. HOW DOES THAT SOUND ?
AND OFFCOURSE, EVERYONE FROM WORLD STRONGMAN CUP, UNITED INTERLEAGUE STRONGMAN BEAT KIRIT.
BEAT IT.
