ifbb could improve the O out of sight by doing this
This is just a theory i had regarding the Olympia.....could make a difference in regards to giving a global sport(athletes everywere) more of a localised feel. What if like a month before (could be more or less time, just a bit of a guesstamation) the olympia all competitors are forced to go into lock down at the same place for the same time....kinda like the olympics with the athletes village. I think golds gym in venice could be a go or one of the big gyms in vegas, ....the athletes would all have to use the same gym...the public could be given vantage points to watch the stars train and their could be a countdown board to the "O", kinda like in pumping Iron when Arnold walks in and boldy states" who do i speak to about signing up to grow some muscles", he strolls in and all the legends are their, its like dam ...as the countdown to the "O" got closer you would see the tension in the athletes and the gamesmen ship would be taken up a notch.....I know it sounds like a zoo...and im sure the athletes would be inconvieniced by all training at the same place...but if weider can control the ifbb like macmohn does the wwf...surley he could make the show more interesting even if it does inconvieniance the athletes.
what you think???
cutler/coleman squaring of on the bench
martinez and jackson on the squat rack.....they are all eyeing each other of...
the tension builds words are exchanged....challenges thrown out......steroids abused...but most importantly the O can be transformed from a dodgy back of house sport, like poker used to be, ......to a mainstream spectator sport were people follow in droves and can see their heros face of nightly... like poker is now.

hahah. it could be like one of those reality shows - Big Brother, Real World, or even Ultimate Fighter. let's put all those ifbb pros into a house/gym and film everything! from kitchen to gym to bed to swimming pool and jacuzzi (no homo). and let's have a confession room. Quincy Taylor calling out Gustavo "he's just a block of cheese" lol damn, I would definitely watch!
but seriously, it ain't gon happen.

yeah i know... i suppose the inspiration comes from that pumping iron scene when arnie was walking through golds and shaking everybodys hands...the billboard read 101 days to olympia and it was like a sense of forbearing...... i think the problem with bodybuilding being a global sport is just that.. its global..... with everybody in one spot a culture could be built rivalries more fierce and the legendary workouts...well it just goes to say.....ifbb needs to become a public company with share and stake holders...because at the moment weider has nothing to loose...he can keep the sport as he likes.....with share holders comes money and with money comes accountability and with accountability comes a better compeition for both the fans and the competitors

it would be great for the fans but not for the athletes, a lot of the guys wouldnt have the money to move to cali or vegas for 5/6 weeks comming up to olympia, most have day jobs and other commitments such as family etc. where as the olympians (people who take par in the olympics not the mr olympia) have all their expensies paid for by the government of each respective country once they enter the olympic village.

Actually not a bad idea. If it could be done in a reality show format with sponsors, etc. It could increase interest in the sport as well as create a new stream of income for the athletes. Any tv producers out there???

The problem is that everyone would be trying to lift the heaviest they can, then Ronnie does a 800lbs deadlift and everyone just looks at eachother and says "hey, lets go eat lunch or something".

It would be awesome to see but it wont ever happen. The general public would jsut be like "LolZ Sterroidz ommgzzzz" so no network would run with the idea. same reason bbing isnt mainstream as of right now. people think its gross, all of the competitors have "fake" muscles cuz of steroids, people think its homo and dont appreciate at all how much work these guys put in for the O.

I think that a different auditorium for the Mr. O would serve it better.
The Orleans Arena does not look that impressive to me.
