So...how did you fare when you went off to college?
would love to hear some stories.
i plan on drinking prob 3x a week, which is about 2x more than i do already. and i actually am trying to cut. so im guessing i just really need to be on top of my diet/training and try to avoid beer and stick with hard alc. im not a moron and ive been around so i know almost all the basics.
just want to hear your personal opinions/stories.

college killed me. im paying for it now. if i could do it all again, i would do it with 1/4 of the drinking.

haha that attitude will soon fly out the window. pretty soon you'll be double fistin forties and taking jello shots at the same time. self control is all you need.

I'm heading into my sophomore year. Last year I probably drank too much first semester, and I was a pothead almost all year round, but especially second semester. I've cut back on both significantly. You gotta learn moderation man, 3x a week is a bit much.

I fared very well. Granted I wasn't into fitness as I was when I started university but I did have some knowledge and training. I came out of my 4 and 1/2 years of university because I was scared out of my skull to gain the the usual school weight. I think once you get out of the first year you'll be fine. You'll figure out what your body can handle and what it can't.
Honestly enjoy it. For me the drinking isn't the big problem when it comes to results it's the late night eating that accompanies the drinking that is the killer. People are always going to want to go for food after the bar whether it's McDonald's, a hot dog stand, or whatever. If you can stay away from that then you'll be fine. Obviously you know what you are doing and the fact that you don't have a meal plan and are preparing your own foods means that you you have more control then most of us had/have over what you are putting into your body.
So enjoy the experience when it comes to socializing and drinking and what not stay away from the food that usually comes with that scene.

I ate the **** the dorm made, drank a crapload and gained a few pounds. Continued that until the end of second semester, ate right, ran, lifted and lost 40 lbs.
I suggest keeping the drinking to a min cause that leads to late night pizza and when your blitzed, why the hell not buy a $5 pizza?! Its a whole damn pizza and it is basically only the price of one ice bomb, great deal!
That line of thought will get ya in big trouble!

my first year, i drank every weekend and managed to stay pretty lean, in the single digits....but that was before i really got serious into eating better and training harder...i would drink, and then end up eating like one meal the next day, so no wonder i was staying pretty lean....
by second semester i started to buck up and cut out the drinkin...it was hurting me physically, as well as in the classroom...cutting back to like once a month, was one of the best moves i made, IMO...strength went way up in the gym, which led to better gains, not to mention the increase in my grades, which is the reason why u are going right??
I didnt completely cut it out, but like the above poster said, its all about moderation...you gotta figure out what your goals are, caues everyone is different...if you are serious about lifting, then obviously drinking should not really be a big part of your life...if you are just out to have a good time with buddies and lift for fun, then whatever turns your crank.
there, my 2 cents

Number of times you drink is almost irrelevant. Drinking DESPITE CONSEQUENCES is when you start to run in to problems.

My plan is to drink twice a week MAX, that is getting drunk. The other times I will just sip beer or something. Going to parties sober is a nice change and can be lots of fun too. ****ing diet is going to kill me though, im so worried

Truth.
I made good progress in my first year. I hope to make better next year because I won't be on cafeteria food. I don't drink though. Some people I knew put on some serious weight in fat their first year from alcohol though.

It started when I went 2 college . . .
When I went off 2 college & started drinking about like u r talking, getting wasted 3 times a week or so, I sowed the seeds of drinking problems it took me 15 yrs 2 break.
My metabolism saved me from the weight gains most guys would experience in similar circumstances, but I ended up living a borderline-alcoholic lifestyle w/ significant drinking every day, 4 many years.
So b4 u go off 2 college thinking (as I did) "oh boy, now I can drink!" here's some educational reading u might profit by (if u r smart, that is):

gettin wasted 3x a week!? god damn u guys are nuts
last year when i went off to college i didnt drink once.. hit the books and got my 4.0.. it seems like nobody pays for their own college/tuition but me around here lol
taking out no loans and paying for it straight cash.. im not there to **** aroudn..
i dindt spend 1$ on laundry / food at all year round.. just went to the cafeteria on my meal plan with tupperware containers and stocked the hell out of them with tuna / chicken / fruits / oatmeal / brown rice/ took loaves of WW bread / took veggies
cooked em up on skillets in the lounge or heated them up in the microwave in my room or @ my job at the gym
dont know how u guys do it, but if you were paying 9-10 grand a semester from ur own pocket i thikn u would think otherwise
ended up losing 80 lbs over first year of college.. eating healthy and working out hard

lol x2. I'd rather have a life than be known as the guy who smuggles his food from the dining hall and never leaves his dorm. Partying (in moderation if you have to) ftw .

how can you not drink in college? it may be sad to say but i chose my school on being a good school and how the party scene was lol, first year of college i drank about 4-5 times a week, tryin to limit that down to 2-3 times but whats the point of life if ur not having a great time? (maybe i wont drink as much as i did those 2-3 times, like 6 beers or so)

Lol last year was horrible.. the first semester I ate crap from dining halls, usually fries/pizza/burgers, and dessert every night lol. Second semester I became a WoW addict and started skipping meals throughout the day, so that I would just order a $6 medium pizza or subway every night and eat that.. lmao. Surprisingly I gained like no weight, but I lost lots of muscle and became "skinny fat".
This year I plan to steal 16oz of cold cut chicken every day, along with 4oz of veggies, and 2 bananas. No drinking for me, chemical engineering the second year onwards is hard as hell, no time for that.

I took out private loans on full deferment because I can't afford to pay $10,000 every fall and spring.
