Before I give my opinion, you should know you'll probably hear many different methods, all with decent reasons. You have to experiment and find what works.
Personally, I haven't been successful waiting any longer than 2 days. Now I try and call the next day (once, no message if no answer). It's not like you have to get-together/hang-out/date/whatever immediately. You may not actually see her again for a week or two, but by calling and setting it up relatively quickly, you have a better chance of keeping her before she stops caring and loses interest.
