My 1st Day Of Preseason Today

Yeah I know we started a little late but whatever. We just ran all those classic drills like the 40 today. Here's what I got, wasnt very good but Im happy...(Compared to last year)

Weight: 140lbs ---> 160lbs
40: 5.2 ---> 5.0
Vertical: 22" ---> 26"
Shuttle: 5+ ---> 4.9
Agility T: 11.68

I was disappointed at my 40, I really wanted it under 5.0 and we got 3 chances but I couldnt do it. My vertical I thought wasnt good but everybody said it was really good and I think the best one on our team was just 28". The shuttle was decent, I wanted it under 5.0 and thats what I got, the fastest was 4.4. My worst is the agility T, I kinda cheated on the last one and got under 12.

I did not really do any of those drills during the off season, I only did some sprints and thats it so I wish I would have worked on all that so it could have been better.

So I thought I did okay, I lifted weights like a madman for 4+ months and gained 20lbs while getting all my times down from last year so I am happy. I did not play at all last year so I hope I get to start at DB...

how strict was the shuttle? I see a ton of times like 4.11 on here, the best we had was like a 4.24.

Really, what do you mean how strict was it?

Our team isnt very full of athletes. Nobody works out so its easy to make yourself look good.

I assume you mean the 20 yard shuttle where you go 5, 10, 5. Our school you have to touch a piece of tape at each marker, and you can't turn your back to the recorder.

Yeah thats what we did, we didnt have to touch it, just cross it.

Damn that's pretty slow then. There's a lot of cheating you can do without touching. Was it hand-timed or electronic? That makes a diff too.

It was hand timed...What's average? I also wore brand new cleats which felt uncomforible, I should have worn sneakers...

No i'm serious... In high school those are good stats for a defensive back...everyone on here thinks you need to run 4.4 like NFL players... YOu have what most DB's have for stats and most off them do pretty good.

Being hand-timed throws everything up in the air. Most decent OL here were getting near 4.9 touching the ground on every turn. Had a lot of backs get near 4.5-4.6 same technique.
