Just a frusterated teen.

Ok so, my first post. Hello all, im Wodahs. I haven't joined that long ago, but ive been reading up for a long time. Im overweight, and i hate it a lot. Takes a lot fo enjoyment out of my everyday life, eve though no one seems to care. Its not like im the one kid who sticks out of the bunch, but it bothers me, and thats really all i care about. I've always been healthy, i wont even touch chocolate, never liked it. I've played hockey for 5 or 6 years, played soccer up until 2 years back, i Mountain bike, and if im not on a mountain, i bike everywhere i go, only get a drive if its out of town. Now i dont eat the smallest portions, but I by no means eat everything at the table. Basicly by saying all of this, I'm saying it makes no sense to me how others can eat garbage and look great(actually t makes perfect sense, i jsut dont like to accept it=P)

Since I started reading about nutrition, I've begun to eat portions, and better amounts of nutrients. I take whey protein after workouts. Other than that i take 1000mg of Vitamin C, Calcium (not sure exactly how much, just however much it tells me to take really, lol), and a Multivitamin.

I haven't got all the details, but i want to change to workout 6 times a week. Monday through saturday, each day focusing on different muscle groups, just repeating the order.

My main goal is to lose a lot of body fat. honestly i hate cardio with a passion, mainly because i have the worst endurance lol. but i realize it has to be done. I would also like to gain muscle mass, especially in the pecks and bicep/triceps.

My main problem is that i have a very hard time staying motivated and sticking to a diet. People, especially in my family ( dont mean to be stereotypical in any way, but im Portuguese/Italian, my family makes A LOT of food, and it keeps getting put in our plates =P)But ill do good for a month, I dont determine that on any progress, I know its slow, but in general i feel great, have more energy, you know, the works. When somethign goes wrong, I look in the mirror, get very discouraged, and ask myself, why bother? And other days I look in the mirror, feel great, and evision how i want myself to look when ive reached my goal.

So, if you have read of all of that, thank you, basicly, I would like some help with creating a diet plan, just general, and, how you guys deal with off days and discouragment, at any level.

My general diet, assuming i follow it, would be something like

Breakfast - 1 1/4 cup of cereal, 3/4 cup of milk OR 3 eggs, 2 slices of whole wheat bread, cup of milk OR serving size package of oatmeal with added fiber, and a glass of milk

some fruits or peanuts for a snack

Lunch - usually something like 6oz chicken breast or some lean meat with vegetables

again more fruits or peanuts for a snack

Dinner - Whatever gets cooked, but is always healthy and includes meat, vege's, bread, starch

And if I do follow a good diet and workout routine, approx. how long do you guys think it could take to get to an average. Im asking this because were supposed to go on a vacation somewhere tropical in January, and I'd really like to feel comfortable with taking off my shirt.

Anyways thanks for any help i recieve, it is all incredibly appreciated. Pics are on my bodyspace for reference.

the people that eat garbage and never gain weight are ectos like myself.

endos are the people that usually have an excess of fat and have trouble keeping weight off.

and mesos which everyone wants to be have solid bases of muscle and the ability to gain muscle easily as well as bulk and cut the easiest.

cardio is the way to do it dude. and ur endurance sucks is even more of a reason.

saying ur family makes alot of food cause ur of italian background is a bs excuse for failed cuts imo.

u wanna break down ur meals into 6 smaller meals instead of 3 big meals with snacks in the middle.

count ur calories one day and than take 500 calories off that and thats what u stick to ull see some fat loss that way.

im not a diet expect and im completely opposite u as in im an ecto so im not gonna try and tell u a diet or what not.

its all about diet, cardio, dedication and being consistant.

good luck bro, hang in there, hope to see u around the boards for months, years to come.

It sounds like you're pretty commited to the whole proccess, im somewhat new to it myself but i know a lot about proper nutrition from lots of sport ive done in the past and stuff
When you said you hate cardio i was expecting you to say "so how can i lose weight without doing it", but you didn't so thats awesome.
Basically i think 3 large meals with snacks isnt the greatest idea, and you should eat around 6 much smaller meals that are high in protein and possibly lower in carbs than what you eat at the moment
The vitamins youre taking sound good
And yeah, its all a matter of getting fewer calories and doing a lot of cardio (while also lifting weights, dont neglect this vital aspect)
trust me, cardio sucks balls when you first start it but the more you do it the easier it becomes and the more endurance you gain, and it actually takes a relatively short amount of time for this to occur
Just try to jog for 15 mins the first session you do (if youre running that is, its the easiest way in my opinion although i do love swimming personally)
and youll eventually reap the benefits and wonder how you ever lived without it lol (probably not -.-)
Just keep eating healthy and cardio-ing and you'll lose the weight. Good to see you're starting early too

One of the most motivating things I found when I was losing weight was this:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=898532

I also looked at many transformations in the Post your pictures section.

I could never give up training. If I look in the mirror one day and think "**** you look terrible", I just train harder. Good luck man

Hey mate,
The simplest way i found for figuring out my calories was to use the cooking scales in the kitchen and weigh the foods i ate and look at the nutrional guides on them and I made a little excel table of my foods and calculated my calories/protein/fat/carb/sugar intakes. Its then pretty easy to take out/add(depending on your goals) high calorie foods.

For example taking out 50g of nuts and a glass of milk a day might lower your calories by 500-600, which is what the person above recommended for trying to lose weight.

Thanks for the replys all. and mattyoc, the last thing i want to do is make an excuse. When i said my family cooks a lot, its not like its there so it has to be eaten. I meant its there so it CAN be eaten. Basicly ive learned to eat with my eyes, when im full, and theres one more peice of bread left, im just used to "w/e ill just eat it", which i know cant happen if i really want to do this. I just find myself having a lot of trouble saying no. But this isnt too much of a problem, as ive started eating a lot better portions.

and having 6 smaller meals a day, but just how small? most of the time for breakfast ill either have the eggs or oatmeal, is what i stated there too much for one meal? thanks.

Don't eat with your family then so you are not tempted.

For a weight lifting routine i was thinking something like
Monday and Thursday - Bi's, Tri's, Delts, Traps
Tuesday and Friday - Chest, Lats, general core workout
Wednesday and Saturday - Lower Body (Quads, Calves, Hamstrings)
Sunday - Rest, possible rec day

cardio monday through saturday(in any form)

Think this is too much? I would like try it, if i find it too much i can tweak it again. I had a workout session today focusing only on what i stated for monday, and it was probably the best workout ive ever had, at leas the most intense. What do you all think?

And for my diet i would like to really reduce the amount of carbs im taking. Havent got specifics atm though =(

Your workout is important, but the number 1 thing is your diet. Find your daily caloric maintenance then subtract 20% of that (i find 15-20% deficit to work better then 250/500/1000 calorie deficits). Afterwards, split your calories up over 6 meals (4-5 is okay, i guess).
