running into people from high school(serious)

i try to make it as awkward as it can be.

if were relating to just acquintances, e.g - running into them at a 7-11 its shockingly suprising to see how timid they can be in saying hi or something verbal.

normally goes like this :
them - eye contact
me - eye contact
them - goes out of the way to subtly/indirectly pretend like didnt see each other
me - does the same

them: just wanted to say hi
me: why? you never talked to me in high school what do you want
them: whats your problem
me: move along

some people hate small talk in general as the person isnt sincere in what theyre saying, theyre just talking for the sake of it

but to me its just common courtesy towards one another as human beings.

ya know i normally run with the cliche bit of "so where you going to school?"
"back in town for the summer, break? holiday?" "we should hang out or somethin *exchange numbers*"

normally resulting in never happening... then running into each other again at a party or something then realizing hey werent we supposed to hang out?

Depends on the person but 99% of the people that I see from high school I say whats up to. The other 1% is either a douchebag, or some weird freak. It's still awkward at times because it's hard to relate (I'm in college, and their back home working, etc) But often times a lot of people have changed dramatically since high school so it can be interesting.

I usually just say "hey" followed by "so what are you up to now a days?" but most ppl I went to HS with sitll all hang out/party with each other so not much has changed.
