Protein Shakes... A few questions.
Are protein shakes alright for my age? I'm only going to have about one daily, because if I take the recommended amount, it'll finish in two days, and the thing was so damn expensive. My shake (USN Muscle Fuel) has 41g of protein for every 110g of the powder.
Should I take them on off days? Is protein as important on off days?
On the tub it says "9 Calories per gram/High Energy Value." If it has a high energy value, am I meant to take it before workout, or still after working out?
Thanks in advance.

So the powder is only about 1/3 protein? Sounds pretty crappy to me.
One a day won't hurt you at all. Make sure you drink plenty of water though.

Muscle Fule is a meal replacement. You could consider takign this inbetween meals or at any time of day to get your daily macros. The only time it's not beneficial to take this is post workout (you should consider a faster absorbing protein) or once you wake up (pure whey is good here to get the quick amino and protein absorption). You def. need protein on off days. I keep my macros the same whether i'm working out or not bec. while you're resting, your body is growing and it needs carbs, healthy fats, and PROTEIN to keep it in an anabolic and recovering state. otherwise you'll find yourself overly sore and overtrained.

Wait... So I need a shake thats 1/1 protein or something?
Well, that's what I was thinking at first, but then my parents went out and bought me this. Oh well, I'll finish it off then buy something good.
Thanks for helping, everyone.

You should check the brands on this site...I think thats a safe bet, I don't think that there are any bad brands on this site, someone correct me if I'm wrong tho. Just trying to chuck out some good ideas on what type of whey to buy next time anyway. good luck

You bought a quality product...it's just not a pure whey. It's a meal replacement. It's an easy way to get your daily calories, proteins, fats, and carbs....use it inbetween meals.

You've probably got a mass-gainer, not a pure protein powder. It should be cheaper then a protein-powder, and very high-caloire.
From what I understand, one serving of yours is 110g, which would equal 40g protein and 1000calories in one shake. Be sure to take it BETWEEN your meals, and you should be fine.

Oh, good. But I didn't want something to help me get my calories in, I wanted something to get my protein in. Hmm... Should I be counting how many calories I'm eating? I want to become fit, strong, slightly big and 'thin' (I want to be big but have low fat) all at the same time, and I'm not quite sure if it's possible or not. How many calories should I be eating daily?
