So now I'm about half way month 2

My 2nd month of Rippetoe's is almost over. I've been flipping through the pages of my workout log book, and I realize how sloppy I feel like I was a month and a half ago when I began. Since, my diet has gradually gotten better, and i have been making better progress in form on all excercises, while still not perfect however. Something I realized I've been doing that I shouldn't have has been resets. I know now with resets, your only supposed to reset after you STALL. Like if I'm benching 140, and I go 5/5/5, then next week I bench 145 and go 5/5/4, I repeat 145 again next workout, until I go say, 4/4/4. What I've been doing has been this. Say I bench 140, and bump up to 145, and go 5/5/4, I realize I failed, so I reset the weights 15% and start back again. Thats a no no, something I realized about a week ago. Is this a little late to realize in the Rippetoe's training and have I screwed up a lot the past month, or is it part of the learning process?

Don't sweat it. Everyone screws up. I realized I was doing squats wrong like halfway through the program. If you really think you've messed up, take a week or two, deload (personally I like to just completely stop working out for a week) and start up again. Or, if it's just one lift (like the bench) start back at 140 or whatever it is you're on and keep giving it.

One thing I personally did, was rather than bump it up and go for 5/5/5, I often would do 140 for 5, then another 5, and THEN go for 145 for 5. If I could do that, then the next workout I did 5/5/5, or maybe even 140 for 5 and then 145 for 2x5. This might help you.

Sweet, cool thanks. I'm gonna keep going at my current pace, monday I believe I'm going to bench 135, I'll see how that goes. From now on, if I bench the 135 smoothly, I'll hit it up to 140 for Friday, and if I start to fail, I'll stall, and reset eventually. I am beginning to learn the program more and more as time goes on, it definately has its learning curve. I guess thats a good thing though.
