Confessions Of A Hotel Night Check-In Worker.

Im a nice guy, but i work in a cheap n cheerful travel lodge hotel on the 11pm-8am shift, and some people who come and stay with us, like to think there in a 5star place...you get what you pay for.

1. If you come asking about room availibilty at 5:00 in the morning, and your even a bit drunk, im going to tell you we have no rooms even if we do...i cant be arsed coming upto your room all night to keep the noise down.

2. If you come down at night asking for towels, and there is short stock, i will go into the linen cleaning room, and give you someone elses old dirty towel (after shaking the dead skin off ofcourse)

3. If you are a hot chick, and i hear you having sex when walking down the corridor, i will go into the room next to yours if its vacant, lie on the bed & chill out to get a better listen.

4. If you are a hot chick and you check out before the end of my shift, be sure that i'll be going into your room to check if you left any panties behind. (they have on a few occasions)

5. When i put up the sign at the front desk "are receptionist is busy attending duties elsewhere in the hotel", please note that my other duties include...sleeping/music/psp/fapping.

Man, I did that job for about a year and a half when I was an undergrad. One of the best and worst jobs I ever had.
Best: I bagged a MILF who worked at the hotel next door, and came within a pubic hair of a threeway with her and another from the hotel across the street. Only thing that spolied it was that the 2nd woman's husband said ok, but he had to be allowed to watch and fap. And she wanted to do it in the lobby. That was one thing too weird for me.
Worst: The second shift people would run the credit cards at 8:00 pm and if it was busy, they'd cancel the rooms of the cards that came back denied and then sell the rooms to walk ins. Once, they canceled the room of a couple on their wedding night and I had to explain it to them.

overbookings have got to be the worst part of the job for me, the nasty sh!t people give me when i have to outbook them to another hotel, just so the company can make a bit of extra cash.

were not supposed to, but i just tell my friend on the 3rd shift to do no walk-ins if were low on rooms. F*ck profits, i dont get paid enough to take abuse every night.

Yeah, it got to the point that I told the manager that if they ever did that again I wanted them to either stay until the guest arrived and they can explain it and get yelled at and threatened, or I'll call their house and they can explain it over the phone.

My hotel allowed the desk to haggle over rates--in fact the owner bitched me out once for not going low enough--so if a friend came in or a cute girl, I'll give them a jacuzzi (sp?) room for $50.

And I wish I had pics. Those were good (but poor) times.

im thinking of quitting the travel lodge job now i have hotel experience, and moving into a classier one.

because our hotel is so cheap, you get all kind of scum coming in...i want a place with class. I feel a bit bad on my manager though, cos she's a nice woman, and im just f*cking off with the skills she taught me.

thats the working world though i guess.

My place was ok. Not a dump, but not the Ritz either. One night the cops came and dropped off a guy they found walking down the interstate. The guy said he had Tourettes (sp?) and kept barking in the middle of sentences. I told him I didn't have any rooms and sent him on his way. Lot of good stories from that place.

Don't feel bad about moving on, I'm sure your manager knows this is a temporary job.

no hidden camera's, i wish...i bet some crazy sh!t goes down in those room, housekeeping are always finding dildos/cocain, and lots of other mad stuff.

we dont have mini bars.

I can't speak for him, but at my place we didn't need hidden cameras. People would take their own pics/vids and leave them in the rooms! Policy was to keep them in the cash drawer for six months or until they claimed them, whichever came first.

When they serve breakfast and it is basically just pastries, juice and coffee, do the workers get pissed if the guests take all the good pastries?

And is it better to make your bed before leaving, or to separate the sheets and wad them up in different piles?

Not really since I had first crack at everything in the kitchen. Usually the guests would complain about there not being anything good on. I never really had to do housekeeping; a couple times if someone checked out very early (12:00 am, 1:00 am) and I thought I could resell the room, I'll check it to make sure the towels and soap were there, then just remake the bed and presto! I'd sell 111 rooms in a place that only held 110.

and about hookers, i see alot of them come through...especially with it being a cheap hotel. Theres some really messed up ugly one's, and i think...sh!t, some of the guys who are with them could get laid for free with better looking girls than that if they upped there game a bit.

ive got to do security checks every 2 hours (sometimes cant be arsed) down the hallways, to make sure everyones being quiet. Thats usually when i hear the rampant sex, it cool.

i do have some other duties like unloading stock, which means i have to leave reception at points throughout the night.
