Required Reading for all AFCs

Hey guys I've been searching this forum for a while and have come across many threads offering advice on things such as confidence, approaching women, self-improvement, etc. However, I also thought it might help out if I posed a list of some books that might help to further improve your dating life. Most of the following books can be found on file-sharing programs such as limewire but some of them you might actually have to go out and buy. If anyone would like to add to this list, just state it in your posts.

The List:

The Game - Neil Strauss (aka Style)
Double Your Dating - David DeAngelo
The Venusian Handbook - Erik von Markovik ( aka Mystery)
The Annihilation Method Series, 6 Volumes - Style
Deep Inner Game - David DeAngelo
Neurolinguistic Programming ( NLP ) - Many books and websites deticated to this art just google it.

Those are pretty much the books I've read so far and each one complements the others nicely.

The Game is an overall review of the PUA lifestyle and includes many PUA styles and is probably the best book to start out with as it will give you a general view of how this can affect your lifestyle.

David DeAngelo's works deal with attraction instead of seduction and focus more on improving yourself to attract women without using sets and patterns like the other PUAs tend to focus on.

Neurolinguistic Programming is a sneaky but very effective technique in which a person uses words and body language to send subliminal messages to the target's mind. Used by many of the early legends such as Ross Jeffries and Steve P.

And finally we have The Venusian Handbook, which is probably my favorite read so far. If any of you have watched the TV show "The Pickup Artist" this book was written by Mystery and you'll know that these techniques work. This book outlines social dynamics and why many men aren't "naturals" at picking up women. It then goes into specific sets and routines which may seem cheesy but surprisingly work.

Remember guys, this is just a rough outline so feel free to add your thoughts and opinions, as well as any other material you have come across and feel should be included in the list.

Man, you don't need to read all those books. One is probably enough to get you started, and just read stuff on the internet every now and then.

If you read all that, that's just pushing it. Don't let women consume your lives by focusing on all the techniques and all that jazz. Honestly, I'm reading The Game and the guy has no life outside of women. I live my life and pick up women at the same time. I really hope his life changes a bit towards the end because it's consuming his life completely.

Also, I hate the PUA name. It's ****ing brutal.

Hah im not saying i take all of that **** seriously, some of it i know is way overdoing it and some of those guys are not right in the head. I just find social interaction a very interesting topic and these guys definitely have a new outlook on this topic, so i've been reading up on how they view things like this. You can definitely do fine without reading even one of those books, but alot of them dont just give you lines to memorize, they explain how the mind reacts to these things as well. This stuff is just really interesting to me I guess.

You forgot the most basic and IMO the best one:-

"How to be an alpha male by John Alexander."

It focuses on you as a complete person and tells you how to be a more attractive guy rather then all this ass dribble PUA lingo.

I don't know about you guys but I think if I ordered then sat down and read 5 books about woman I'd over think things and do worse approaching them.

"Did she just give me a positive single? Are her arms crossed the same way as mine?!"

While it builds confidence for some to have background knowledge. Your still going to have to man up and just wing it.

that reading list you compiled is a good road to becoming a WEIRD WANKER. I know because I fell into the same trap several years ago. I just wanted to meet and bang more women, and the mystery method aka venusian arts handbook promises you can "put any woman under your spell" if you memorize this complicated model and memorize all these lines and routines. you know the result? I became socially-awkward as ****, I didnt hang out with my "AFC" friends anymore (in fact I went through a period where I didn't have any friends at all except "wingmen"). Those books you suggested are ****ing terrible at improving yourself with women. They make you a ****ing robot thats creepy as hell. Come on, neurolinguistic programming, you need a book that teaches you how to subliminally trick people into liking / having sex with you??? thats ****ing creepy man.
Don't buy into that marketing dog ****, it's just scamming your ass by playing on your insecurities.

That's how I got into reading DeAngelo and Doc Love. I already was getting results as a young man, but didn't know why. So it's cool to read their take on why certain things work and don't work.

Correct.
You have to be in the field and truly understand what women need from the man to have their attraction amplified. By trying and failing, you'll see how they reacted etc. Then when you do the correct things to many females and see the same positive results, you'll start to understand. If you have -78% idea of any of this, you won't get good by reading books alone.

Actually that only happens if you take these books completely seriously and model your life around them. I never said to do that, I merely stated that they offer a different view on the dating game. If I did half the **** they say to do i'm sure i'd be slapped to hell and back but I read it more for entertainment than as a way to complete myself. It's the guys who have absolutely no prior social experience that take these things way too seriously and end up becoming creepers. They're entertaining books, read them for entertainment and maybe you'll learn a few things. I know that as long as you keep things in perspective, you'll do fine. (I currently have a serious girlfriend and thus have been prevented from trying many of these things but i've definitely gotten her more interested in me and shes been calling me nonstop wanting to hang out ever since i've used some of their techniques, so i know for a fact that some of it DOES work if you use it right. )

Oh and the NLP thing, I find that kind of stuff absolutely amazing. I'm fascinated by the fact that you can hypnotize someone using only words and them not even knowing about it. It's very disturbing how some guys use this to get sex, but I just find it interesting to see how our subconscious responds to something as simple as words and gestures.

I mean its not like these guys completely make this **** up and can't back it up. Take a look at Style, hes one of the most metrosexual and ugly guys i have ever seen but his girlfriend is absolutely smoking. Look up some of the girls Mystery has dated and you'll be amazed.

I think the books that explain psychology are the most interesting and valuable. They show how evolution and social conditioning can combine to create certain dispositions in both men and women in social interaction and long-term goals and attractiveness, it's fascinating. I don't like all the routinised stuff, the NLP, patterns, etc, some of that is just weird. But writers like David DeAngelo and Michael W write brilliant books on how attraction works and how it's ok to be masculine in this socially pussified modern world, and how to be successful and driven and accrue the qualities that women naturally are attracted to. It affects your whole life and perception, rather than a manual about how to get more sex.

Style is metro, but he's not ugly. What kind of ******* thing is that to say? He's not traditionally handsome, but he's not ugly.

Mystery is great at seducing and attracting women but when it comes to relationships he's a complete fck up. I bet the guy has some deep issues.

Like i said, as long as you dont take them too literally these books will help you out in some form or other. About the alpha male thing, it's a great mindset and all but you still have to work on your game to pull some girls, its not like they'll all approach you just because you give out an alpha vibe, that can actually be intimidating and a turn off for girls that are 8s or lower.
