Petition for +35 MISC section
sign up here if you'd like to see all the whiney, crying ,Baiting threads, posts and posters tossed into a over 35 section MISC .
I love this specfic part ( +35) of BB.Com but really, its getting to a point where i look up a thread that i THINK i can gleen some info from , or contribute to , and its spiraling into a flame fest . legit posters with world class opinions
( that i want to read ) are getting flamed to death , insulted, and generally lost in the miasma that this forum is degenerating into .
Its kinda sad that people who cant ,wont , or are too lazy to train can, will and DO give bad advice, question , mock and pollute the general goodwill and fellowship of this forum . there isnt rational debates without someone who should be READING rather than POSTING chipping in , mocking others or just flaming for flaming's sake .
when i came to BB.COM i read every board. i dont anymore cept for over 35 ( i do troll the Misc but i know what im getting into when i go there ) because of the lack of common sense and respect prevalent over the other forums. this forum appears to be going downhill fast (IMHO) a sad thing.
not sure what the answer is . this board is a great resource for me, and im sure others . i dont see alot of folks who used to post post anymore. thats too bad , alot of quality gym time is going to waste by not getting shared .
just my two cents. maybe a +35 misc is the answer . or maybe the asshats who cant play nice with others can stfu , go away and let this board be what its meant to be :
rational discourse by ADULTS to Facilatate healthy, productive, and instructive give & take , quality control , input and advice on training , diet, Cardio , lifting , health and over all fitness .
its a great goal.
its why i came to these boards .
Iis it why YOU are here ? ?
If not mebbe you need to got troll elsewhere .
if you need to bust a nut winning a E-Fight , then mebbe this isnt the place for you ..

I am with you OneO I am tired of getting into e-fights with certain members that now I Stick to one thread, have some fun and occasionally post on another thread if i feel like i can give a legit answer.
Personnally too much test in some threads and I like coming here, I agree with most posters here, but there are some who like to disturb the masses and i prefer to not acknowledge them, so i stay away from threads that they respond to.
It is a great idea, that I hope comes to fruition.
Good Luck
Paul

Thanks, Chris for this post. I don't think an over 35 misc section is the answer, as I believe it will just bring more crap into the regular area. I think your second recommendation is what needs to happen. We've always been pretty good about self-policing. When regular, respected, posters start to get flamed, it is certainly getting out of hand. That's not to say we don't all have our "off" days - but "respect" needs to be modus operandi.

You may not get a board for what you're asking.
Actually, the title block is not used effectively. If posters just took a few seconds to think about their posting and thought in terms of the Search tool being used to find their posting the topics of discussion would displayed better.
Usually, I don't pay much attention to the titles because posters just put all kinds of stuff in them. I read the first posting and if there is no interest... move on.

we all know who the arguers are - they go back and forth telling the other one they are wrong etc - maybe we should try to ignore those particular individuals

I beleive it would be nice to have misc sub forum. I do like to post to one the off topic threads here, but I also like to share and gain knowledge on the main theme. I think sepparratting the 2 would be helpful especialy to new comers.

An over 35 misc section will NOT happen.
Sorry folks but this has been discussed before and most do not want it including the active mods in this section.
We (the mods) allow most off topic threads and let things be foor the most part. Until someone starts acting like an idiot. What is an idiot is a judgement call to made by the mods...sorry, but it is.
I am sorry if we can't make everyone happy and I know there is a few members (new and vets) that don't like some things about our section. For that I am sorry. Let me remind everyone that every thread does not have to be read, that every post does not always deserve a response, no matter how stupid you feel it may be. There is something called the ignor list......some people just need to start using it IMO as they obviously can't help themselves from reading posts from people they can't stand.....and then they get upset at the forum and the mods.
Remember if people would not respond to stupid threads or posts, the people making them will eventually stop !
NO OVER 35 MISC SECTION EVER !
I do not go into the regular miswc section myself unless I am pulled in there to mod because another mod is not online that has mod privledges there.

I vote for a misc. section as well... but i don't have too many issues with folks here…
One guy did get on my nerves so I put him on my ignore list (twice!! long story). I've seen a few other folks who were out of line but I was too late to post to tell them what I think. They have never attacked me so I have not done much about it.
But, anyway, I think having a misc. section will tidy things up a bit and will make it easier for folks to focus in on the things that interest them the most when they come to this section of the forum. Can't hurt, that's for sure.
EDIT: Chi_town's post was not there when I started my post... meaning, it seems all this is a mute point…

I've had a love-hate relationship with BBing chat boards for almost 10 years now. I truely understand your frustration. I actually stopped my involvement with boards for for awhile, just for sanities sake. I get fed up when a discussion turns from science to opinion. I get fed up a lot. But, you know it really doesn't matter. You can not run a public chat board without letting undesireables in. I simply stay away from discussions that I know will irritate me. And I find that it works. Let the people who offer unqualified, unsubstantiated advice chat among themselves.
Take care.

thx for the response from everyone . (including Chi_town)
like to see civility and common sense prevail is all . adding posters to ignore works, but the last week or two it seems that every post and thread is a flame fest . I need good , sold input from vets to progress and prosper in the gym . i can weed out the wheat from the chaff, but the wheat/Chaff ratio is getting skewed pretty hard as of late .
as Chi_Town stated, i can ignore , choose not to read , or otherwise not be involved in the Baiting ( which i dont on this board , for the most part) but its getting pretty pervasive as of late...
thanks agian for the responses

Howdy everyone....
I've seen some theads here that have certainly surprised me and wondered why a 35+ person (males mainly) would post something irrelevent, inane or just plain crude and out of line.
I do not have a lot of tenure here but it seems many posts are starting to come from those younger than 35?
I also think it could be simpler in that any moderator could check out a thread (especially one this morning that I did comment on) and make a unilateral decision and DELETE damn thing?
This is a mixed forum with ladies here and anyone who is 35+ SHOULD know how to behave!
I don't have all the answers onr this issue so just wanted to endorse some of the thinking here.
I think the mods have a tough job here on this issue.
Later all...

Thanx Chi Town for the clarification, I know that another board would not be created because the same crap would go on there as well.
I would also like to add that I practise all the above recommendations, too much stress in life to worry about others.

All due respect, I would rather not have a Misc section. Yes, there are dumb threads, but if we ignored them and did not post in them, they would not remain on the first page.
Secondly, what I have appreciated from this board are the helpful ideas that relate to BBing, but also many that just relate to better health or knowledge for the Over 35 people. I want to know or at least consider ideas and news that can improve my life. Most all of us love the training, but in the gym is not 100% of it. It is diet, vitamins, supplements, mental, dealing with people and anything to do with lifestyle. Muscles and the Body-Beautiful are functional in all aspects of life and that is what makes it so interesting. It is not 100%, "How do you Hold the Bar for Bench Press?"

Chi_town...
Yes, I'd forgotten about the 'ignore' factor.
That (thanks for reminding me) is our fail safe and probably is the only answer that any one of us can initiate.

another pov
i've never been offended by anything i've read on this site. it's the internet and everyone is always right in their own mind i'd just hate to think that just because we're over 35 we've lost our sense of humor. granted i haven't been on alot lately, so maybe i'm missing some of the big picture.

I know I will probably get shot down for this but I have to agree with Someday life is too short to always be so serious we need a little entertainment and laughter, if you allow someone who is miles away to get under your skin just avoid him/her altogether.
I know I have been a culprit and have had people get to me but I have learn that allowing someone else to control your emotions whether good or bad is truly not worth it especially when you can't go through the computer and smack them silly

LOL BH! You have such a way with words.
I personally find this forum very entertaining and I get a lot of laughs most of the time. I avoid topics that make me mad, or at least I try to. Its a free world, post whatever.

I think we should follow what Chi_Town said and just ignore people who should be ignored and maybe they will go away. I know I enjoy hearing most members perspective on more than just bodybuilding. People who are here to argue and annoy people can be added to your ignore list and the mods will handle them as they did earlier this week.

Alas, you are forgetting one of my favorite quotes (which I think happens to be the sig of an O35 member):
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.
--- Albert Einstein
Anyway, I just need to get this off my chest:
I don't care if you have a pet, or if someone you saw at the gym was wearing make-up, or if the volume of your semen declines as you age, or...
Ok, I'm done now and I feel much better.

I personally find this forum very entertaining and I get a lot of laughs most of the time. I avoid topics that make me mad, or at least I try to. Its a free world, post whatever.

All great responses. I don't feel as bad since everyone here is right. Opinions can be similiar but still individual.
