WHy must everyone in the gym insist on higher reps ****
So i'm benching i ask a fat guy with bad form who is working in on the bench to spot me he did, but when i was benching first set of 5 reps when i was finished rep 4 i paused at the top for about two seconds and he was like 6 more i'm like wtf and did last rep then he was like 5 more heput his hands on the bar and said it, i basicly had to push the bar back on the rack so he wouldn't kill me
Then he lectures me that 5 reps does nothing yati yati yati i waned to tell him man your fat like 30 years old and can't even rep 145 with good form Go the **** home but i didn't want to hurt his feeling
this isn't the first time someone at the gym told me 5 reps does nothing most of the gym does half ass assisted reps with way to much weight
/end rant
atleast i had a few girls look at me when i was walking home well look at my pumped body...
edit-time to pose in the mirror and wait for responses...

Don't see why it should bother you, it's not like you're being physically forced to do more reps. A lot of people like to toss around their BS advice, just ignore it if it's that much of an issue.

people have diffrent ethics on lifting, some people just do benchx3 sets of 5 and no auxilarys working that muscle group.. which will do almost nothing

Maybe you should have told him how many you were shooting for BEFORE you had him spot you.

a lot of the older guys in my gym think they know everything....just cause they're older. just keep being stronger than them.

He was just trying to be nice and "help" you out haha... I don't mind when people give me advice at my gym, its really hardcore, and a lot of the guys compete so I learn a lot, its not always a bad thing. But in your case I'd be pissed....

I've made more gains lifting heavy with good form in the 4-6 range than I ever did 8-10.

i was doing 50lb dumbell presses and this guy comes over and asks if i need a spot...i was thinking "im doiing DUMBELL PRESSES for goodness sake"
i told him i appreciated the concern though, im a nice person
