Working out the middle chest?

Allright, here's my problema. I've been working out quite a bit lately, not so much trying to get huge or anything, just trying to get back into a semi respectable shape. The trouble is, I'm hella skinny, and while my abs and upper chest muscles are developing decently, my middle chest (under the nipple to about the bottom of the rib cage) seems to be, well, not. It actually dips in a bit there, something I'd like to figure out how to even out. What should I be doing to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you're describing the upper abs not the chest. You said "under the nipple" right? You could do some ab exercises to bring out your abs. I recommend weighted situps and crunches. What you are explaining could also be http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...pages/2927.htm which unfortunately can only be remedied by surgery (not recommended unless there's a problem).

So I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts you're still a beginner. There's no reason to get into specialized training to target some perceived deficiency. You're still at the stage of throwing all the pasta against the wall and seeing what sticks. You need to reach broader goals first, such as a target weight, target squat, etc. We have really lost site of GPP (General physical preparednesses) and jumped right in to trying to develop our middle chest and 'dial in our quads'. Most of these little issues will take care of themselves if you pursue true strength training and stay away from the machines.

Well, I certainly don't have that problem, it's more to the sides of the bottom of my breastbone. My two bottom ribs on my left side do seem to jut forward a bit, which does cause some of the problem.

Yeah, I am, the reason I ask is I've always maintained a decent shape, so I suppose I expected things to flow a little more. I'm not expecting it to look ripped, just like I said, the dip at the ribcage is just a bit irritating. I thought that area consituted "middle-chest" but I guess it is more of an upper ab thing.
