Energy Drinks in the Morning
I did a search and looked for some previous threads discussing energy drinks in the morning. The past week I have been addicted to the Lo-Carb Monster Energy XXL drinks. Are these going to kill my gains?

no, it won't kill your gains. excessive caffeine intake *may* cause problems down the line though.

x2, i don't care what people say, caffeine is addictive. your not going to like what happens when you drink it every day for a few years then suddenly stop.

IIRC, Monster only has like 80 mg of caffeine per serving, so the xxl has like what, three servings? 240 mg isn't exactly going to kill you but I would consider downsizing to the regular size and avoiding caffeine the rest of the day to avoid dependency.
Caffeine is addictive but I think many will agree that it has its purpose; it can also be abused like anything else in life. The key, as always, is moderation.

when i started my internship for the summer i was drinking 3 cups of coffee in the mornings everyday. i hated the fact that i had to rely on a substance to keep me going. ever since i radically changed my diet a month ago, i haven't even had a sip of coffee and im fully energized throughout the entire work day. if your eating and sleeping like a normal healthy person you shouldn't need to rely on caffeine.
EDIT: ^^ makes me look like i'm anti-caffeine, but really im not. if i have a late night cram session for school, or im going on very few hours of sleep, i'll drink the caffeine. all im saying is it shouldn't be a part of your daily diet.

Your body can build a a complete tolerance to caffeine only after a short period of time. 600mg/day for 2 weeks and the drug no longer has any effect on the body. Yes, 600 mg is a good amount, but thats three cups of coffee, which isn't out of the question for a lot of people. Something to think about...

on the other end of the spectrum, your body can also start to completely reject it, and even the smallest amount of caffeine will cause a serious heart condition.

Well, you do sound a little anti-caffeine but that's not exactly negative; you SHOULD be able to get through a normal day without a caffeine fix. I think the main idea here is that caffeine should be used a tool and not a crutch.
