Eating lunch with coworkers
You know what really is hard, when coworkers want to go out to eat. 1) it tends to add up pretty quickly and 2) It is usually unhealthy.
Today I said screw it, I packed my healthy lunch and took it with me. I probably looked like fool sitting there with my lunch box while others bought sandwiches. I got stares, and one coworker joked about me being cheap. However I just don't care anymore. What do others do?

I'd eat my quick healthier meal right before they went or right when they got back and just go with them to hang our and un-wind from work.......or just not go.........I was doing my cardio during lunch for a while too during my cut b/c we have showers here at my job.....
Peer pressure is a bitch.........
If I know where they'r egoing then I try and determine if I'll be able to order something there OK............Chicken Breast or Salmon usually...

I used to get this in High School. While everyone was sitting there eating greasy hotdogs and burgers, I was digging into a can of tuna looking like a prat.
But guess what, look at me now. I'm sure they're jealous.
Your attitude is spot on! Who gives a crap about them.

Usually I can manage to eat healthy when going out because my co-workers aren't into fast food. If they were I would either not go or do what you did and bring my own lunch with me. It's a hassle when you get comments and stares but it beats the hell out of being fat and out of shape.

their just joking with you because your acting out of the norm. i doubt any of them actually look down on you for eating healthy. if anything their probably jealous of you willpower. people at my work will tell me that theres pizza or donuts in the breakroom, then see what im eating at my desk and be like "oops nvm, your eating healthy"

Oh pizza is the hardest, especially when we are working over time and dinner time comes around, the boss usually orders pies for everyone. That is when I get the weakest because it is not usually planned and I don't have any food with me.

yeah that would be pretty hard. i've been offered pizza and donuts more times than i can count, but each time i can comfortably say no thanks because i have my sack of food with me. the only thing i could recommend is to compensate for those maybe overtime days by packing a little extra food.

dude i have the same problem with friends and co-workers. like the other day we went to the beach i and packed my chicken and veggies lunch and ate that when my other friends had fast food. its your body so you choose what you eat because at the end of the day you'll feel better about yourself not giving in to temptation.

Props for that...wish I started back in high school.
I woulda been the guy across the table from you making fun of you, as I filled up on chicken patties and Shocktarts... Damn, I miss Shocktarts...
Luckily I played soccer and basketball to keep in decent shape but never really got into lifting and proper nutrition until this past year.

To get back on topic...tomorrow is my last day of my internship and by co-workers are taking me out to a restaurant of my choice for lunch... I picked sushi....
The place we are going to is called Kaz. It's in Washington, DC. Anyone ever been there? Anything different from any other normal sushi place?
Check out the site...what would you get? http://kazsushibistro.com/menu.html

if you've never had it before i would recommend trying one of the crunchy makis. its probably not the healthiest thing on the menu, but its damn good.

I wish I would've been unafraid of the insults in highschool, because that's when I was like 230 and 20% BF.
Now, I don't care. Why come so far and give it all up because some *******s always have something to say? From what I've noticed, the more your friends are making fun of you, the farther you're coming along.

qft i would always go into the cafeteria with a cold steak or a bowl of brown rice and everyone would call me stupid and a dumbass... well at the time my improvements weren't obvious so i couldn't be like 'yeah, but look where it's getting me'
now though, i can be pretty obvious when I say "you eat **** and you look like ****, i eat great and i look great, so piss off"
but eating out is definitely a social activity, and if you can avoid the cheat meal go for it, if not either work harder to burn off the extra calories, or just go and have a cup of coffee.
and like someone else suggested, just order the best thing you can on the menu. most places will have something like chicken or steak or fish. if it's fast foods then **** 'em anyway that's not a fun social setting to be with your coworkers

Yeah that's quite annoying. All white collar workers want to eat is junk. Everytime we have the quarterly conference call it's free pizza. Wooopeeeeeee! ... and the darn donuts every morning, how about some oatmeal for a change. I always make sure I have meal replacement bars at work for these instances. And yeah people are definitely going to frown upon you. Just ignore them. I bet after the meal most of them regret stuffing theirselves with several slices of pizza.

pick good food. I have yet to eat anywhere (even fast food) where there hasn't been at least one salad on their menu... except like cold stone creamery or brewster's or whatever. You're on your own there, I have to stay the poop away from those places.
If you need twice as many calories as a dinner salad, order two salads... there are no rules that say you have to order some side or appetizer to eat more just because you already ordered a salad.
And for the people who eat pizza and doughnuts in the office, they don't regret it. For the most part, they're happy they're eating breakfast (doughnuts) or mid afternoon snack (pizza).

They look at you weird, but don't give a second glance to girls who get a whole slice of pizza, take one nibble and say they're full?!! I hate America, really I do..
