The Christian Family

The family has come under heavy attack in today's society. On television, father's are often depicted as buffoons. Mothers are typically depicted as career minded and in control. Parents in general are characterized as dim wits who aren't "with it."
In too many families, in order to make ends meet, the mother must work and entrust the care of her children to strangers. Children are independent, arrogant, and disrespectful. Everywhere you look society is offering quick and easy fixes, sexual promiscuity, "safe sex," and promises of freedom without penalty.
Divorce destroys 50% of all marriages.
Gangs are growing.
Sexual molestations by parents of their own children is increasing as are acts of violence.
Amidst all the depressing facts there is a ray of hope: the Bible. God has given us the instruction book for families. He has defined the family, taught us the roles of each of the family members, and has promised to bless those who adhere to His will. Praise God! We need it!
The Bible has much to say about the Family. God takes it very seriously. As Christians, we should too. . . especially the fathers.

Nothing in history has caused more death, hatred, destruction and resulted in more ruined lives than religon--with the possible exception of greed and selfishness. The above statement cannot be proved of course, but it is a good approximation for those who know their history.

Religon teaches people to blindly follow and not to think; to bow down and submit and not stand up as independent; to look down on others and judge (regardless of what the scriptures may say this is always the result) and not tolerate; to trust superstition and folk-tales and not cold-hard facts and logic.

Good job for stating the obvious. That is how religon is so destructive, it set people against each other, it gives wars a reason to start, it gives fewer people more influence over the common man.

I will agree with you that "religion", which I like to refer to as legalism, has been used as an excuse by evil men to exercise whatever they wish to do. However, you just cited some history for a very specific group, ie Catholics. Many terrorists use Islam to hide behind as their reason for killing. But, you can't make a statement, which you did, that the "BIBLE" is to blame as THE cause for evil mens deeds. That is illogical. On this post you switched to speaking only of religion and about that I will agree with you. If you still believe the Bible directly causes death and hatred, then I'd like to know how an inatimate object can pull off such a feat. Please tell me you get what I'm saying!

how can Darwins Evolution for the late 1800s be blamed for the slavery which had been going on for hundreds if not thousands of years. But... I've been raised in a rather old fashioned community and in a rather old fashioned household, and the decline of the traditional family is a blow to me, if only because it threatens me with a future family life I have no experience of.

That said, at least babies don't get dropped on their heads anymore. A godless economically rich lifestyle does have the benefit of offering a good chance of not being killed by your parents. Without modern medicine, neither my brother nor I would have been born, so one shouldn't idealise a non-existant golden age.

No one in my family is religeous in any way. My mother works, and none of us see it as a problem. My parents have always loved and cared for my brother and I and eachother. I think I have one of the most functional families around, and we didnt use the bible at all.

As a matter of fact you are disrespecting the way other religeons teach about the family unit now by suggesting that only christians know how to do it right. As for children being independant, as my brother and I have grown older we have become more and more independant relative to what our parents thought we could handle, and relative to what we though we could handle. If your suggesting that children should not be given any independance until they leave home.... well thats when kids go off the rails- They have never had to do anything for themselves and all of a sudden they are free to do whatever they want now their parents cant stop them.

Part of being well adjusted is being able to make the right descision for yourself. And I'd suggest that safe sex messages aren't the satanic verse that you seem to think. You could always tell your kids it is and have them ****ing without a condom. Of coarse then they would have STD's and children by 16.

I don't see how the theory of evoultion by Darwin publish in 1858 could cause the civil war in 1861. The civil war was fought because of money. Why did the Spanish whip out Natives in south America 15 and 16 hundreds, no it was the catholic church be hind that. The problem is that religions like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc. all claim to be right, while at the same time refusing to tolerate other views. When you have several different religious groups that are all trying to "convert or kill" each other, war and conflict are inevitable.

As for atheism causing problems - get real. Atheism isn't a religion, simply a lack thereof. What certain atheists may have done has absolutely nothing to do with atheism itself.
