Explosion kills ex-Guantanamo Taliban leader
Pakistan?s minister of information said, according to his information, Abdullah Mehsud, the one-legged terrorist released from US detention in 2004, was killed. Since Saturday, Pakistani forces have killed at least 35 Islamists in attacks on half a dozen havens along the Afghan border.
One account said Mehsud blew himself up with a grenade in a house in Zhob, near the Afghan border, when it was surrounded by Pakistani troops. Captured in Afghanistan in 2001, the Taliban leader on his return to Pakistan operated in the lawless border regions to organize attacks on Pakistani troops and cross-border assaults on NATO troops in Afghanistan.
This week, Pakistani officials objected strongly to suggestions that US forces may go after al Qaeda hideouts in the border region.
(Wait, I remember reading these guys who are, and were at Gitmo are just victims of the evil Americans.. this is has to be another one of Bush's dirty tricks).
