When a large moon or heart shaped booty, becomes flat! What's going on?
Ok...why is it, when some women become fat, their butt gets wide and large, but flat. Somebody tell me something? I've never had a moon shaped booty, but my butt was heart shaped and plump, just the way I liked it. Not too big, not too little. Now there are no signs of the heart or moon these days, just wide heaven(that's putting it nicely). Is it because fat covers the glute muscles, or do those muscles just shrink and drop? Combination?

Did you have a baby?? I used to have a nice booty..one of my fav body parts... and I had my first child at 18 and it dropped...I read if you have a child they take it all from ya... so i am guessing he took the protein right out of my muscles...Lost my eyesight with the second child ... but i am working on all that...

Hi Amber, you have great porportion...what are your fitness goals? Is that your before photo, or a progress photo? Looking good either way, so you most definitely will have amazing results.
I'm also in my 30's, and had my child as a teenager as well. After giving birth YEARS ago, that was the FIRST time in my life, I lost noticeable dress sizes, and realized my body had the potential of being much smaller. After having a c-section, I weighed around 170, and even though the bulk of my loss was "scale weight"(didn't know that then), my abs were becoming flat, and I loved the shaped of my butt.
Unfortunately, within less than ONE year, my old habits returned, and I gained back twice as much. I passed the 200 pound mark years later. So I can't say childbirth or pregnancy is the cause. Were it not for that brief period, I would have believed the lie, that I was genetically meant to be fat.
What I know now, is that I did everything wrong, by restricting calories too much, and I didn't have a clue about weight training and cardio. So I lost a lot of muscle in the process. I've started and stopped diets over the years, but this will be the first time I've fully committed to a lifestyle change, with the correct fitness knowledge, and MINDSET, without feeling as if I'm starving, and lost when it comes to fitness. So I'm excited to see what my body will look like.

Get out! I would have never guessed you were 30% fat. I've heard being skinny-fat takes just as much effort to correct, as someone like me carrying lots of fat. So I feel for ya girl. 22 years is a long time to be in fitness. Have you always trained with weights during the above years, or mostly concentrated on cardio type exercise?

I was a CARDIO /CARB ADDICT of course..LOL...you cant get this svelte ever impressive body weight lifting now.....that's just plain ole silly..haha
No i really mostly got into weight lifting a few years ago..but just wasnt eating enough and over training...and i just kept getting more fat....I think quitting smoking 3 yrs ago REALLY did me in...i was like 20% body fat before then...and i have lost weight since then on fasts but the fat percentage just always stayed ..so hmm i am guessing i lost alot of muscle...so i am bulking even though i cant fit into my clothes... so i just wear skirts all day.. and stretchy dresses ...I dont CARE .. I WANT MUSCLE.
I think if i started to cut now before i get muscle..what's there to cut...i am 1/3 body fat...what muscle is there ?? LOL
I think it would just screw me up more ..but i might be wrong...i dunno ..I have been only keeping my cardio to twice a week for 20 mins.
someone told me i should be doing 30 mins 3 times a week ..but i think i would not be able to gain muscle as well.

Oh p.s.
I used to like 6days a week 1 hour cardio ...or 30 mins but always 6 days a week... that was my thing.. so to restrain myself to only 2x's per week has been actually tough not to do more ..as funny as that sounds...
I am so relieved i dont have to work out as hard as i used to
it was 6 days ...60 min cardios
and 3-4 x's a week full body weightlifting
I WAS KILLING MYSELF!!

Hey Amber! Congratulations on kicking that smoking habit!! That alone, adds years to the lives of most people. I've always been amazed that people who smoke could do all that cardio. I just thought of a comedy sketch, where a woman would leave home every morning running, and on the way back during cool-down, she'd be smoking a cigarette.
I think you hit the nail on the head. It sounds like you lost a lot of muscle with the cardio-carb regime you followed all those years. I have a feeling, you'll be shocked at the results waiting for you. I saw progress photos of a woman months ago, who was skinny-fat. She only lost 3 scale pounds, but her entire physique was transformed. Just keep hitting those weights hard...success is just around the corner.
