Too bad you cant say you want to be a coach, and then give an example of a pre-game/halftime speech. I would consider those 'persuasive'. You are persuading the team to be motivated to work hard.
In that case, go with Al Pacino in "Any Given Sunday"
In my speech, I argued for organ donating.

People would probably enjoy the language persuasive speech more than some politically charged issue. Nothing is more annoying than 8 drug legalization speeches and political rhetoric.

Well thatmust be a topic you obviously have some bit of opinion on. Are you trying to persuade people to be for it or against it?
You would have to try to gain their empathy (if for it), by painting a picture of a person suffering.
If you were against it, start by saying how bad it is to end life etc-- be strong with your opinion and state why you feel that way.
If against it, use infants--I would say infants are an easy way to get the audience to identify with you. Have them imagine when THEY were young, that it was happening to them.
I'm not sure what side you are arguing. Just make sure you paint a good picture/example for the audience.

I love doing speeches and Im a Comms major. I did a persuasive speech and they are pretty easy once you have a format.
Here are the 4 ways you can organize your speech:
1)Problem/Cause/Solution
2)Better Plan
3)Overcoming Objections
4)Monroe's Motivated Sequence
Here is how they are done:
1)I.There is a problem
II. The problem is caused by...
III. There is a solution
2)I. There is a plan
II. This plan will be better than the current plan...
3)I. People do X
II. There are several reasons why people don't do X
III. These reasons can and should be overcome
4)I. Attention Getter
II. Show the audience that there is a need to fix X
III. Propose a plan to solve it
IV. Describe what life would be like with the solution in place
V. Call to action
I usually use number 4. Good luck!!!

I did my speech on Microfinance by Professor Muhammad Yunus. It was 6 minutes long, I'd actually gladly give it to you because spreading the word on this is such a great cause. He won the Nobel Prize for it last year. PM me if you want it.

Are you trying to persuade people to be pro or con Euthanasia?
Being on bb.com, you obviously know the benefits of living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. How about one persuading people to live a healthier life. I'm sure you could find some great statistics out there on fatal diseases that could be greatly reduced by maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

This is probably one of the best ways I've ever seen as an outline for the speech!

Make sure to include this quote...
"Americans who travel abroad for the first time are often shocked to discover that, despite all the progress that has been made in the last 30 years, many foreign people still speak in foreign languages."

Yes. For example some people when they steal from store a judge make stand on a main street and hold a card saying that I stole such from such and this is my punishment. There are several kind of public shaming...use google to do some search on or use the references in what I posted.
