Hello
Hi, folks.
I'm a new member and just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Robb, I'm 40, married, one child (my 14 month old son Max), living in Northern California, and finally ready to put out a serious and sustained effort to put on some muscle. Because of my busy work and family life, I won't have much more than 45 minutes a day to train. So I've come to BB.com for advice and information on how to get the best results I can from the time I have. I want the stamina and strength to play with my son as he grows, and a physique that will make my wife smile. One of my buddies at work, a competitive bodybuilder, told me that BB.com is an excellent site for the information I need, and man was he right! BB.com is great! There's so much information here that it's kind of overwhelming! Which brings me to a question I have about board etiquette here at BB.com. If I have a question about something but don't have time to go through all the articles, can I ask that question here in this forum? Judging by the number of articles you guys have here, I'm sure the answer I need would be there. But sometimes I just don’t have the time to read through and find the right article.

Thanks, OhioSteve! That's the answer I was hoping for. I see what you mean about the people here at BB.com. I've spent a little time looking through the threads, and the people here seem genuinely helpful and enthusiastic about their sport. It looks like you have a pretty good group here.

Welcome aboard Notabunny (that's a interesting screen name). Like Steve said we're a pretty friendly group over here. Feel free to ask for assistance anytime. When time permits, I would recommend going through some of the articles or older threads as there is a wealth of knowledge and experience to be gleaned from some of the more experienced members.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I can already tell this is my kind of place! 8) I've taken your advice, 1stindoor, and have started going through some of the threads regarding a couple specific interests of mine. A little while ago I fell off a roof and had to quit lifting for almost two years because I broke 11 ribs and sustained an unpleasant shoulder injury. I still don't have full use of my right shoulder (no military or Arnold presses for me!), but in the threads i've found other BB.com members who've tried and recommended other shoulder exercises that I can do. I even tried a couple last night with empty dumbbells and think I've found some that will work.
Let's see... first day as a member and I've already benefitted. Yeah, I'm gonna like it here.

Welcome to the board. I am 47 and have found that getting early and training before work is my best bet. Give that a try if you are pressed for time!

Welcome
I guess I ought to intro myself as well. My name is Rob too, imagine that! The Greenfeather name came from a Juanaco Indian Chief who told me "Your men move like the feathers of the green bird" (meaning Amazon Parrots, who are almost invisible in flight in the jungle canopy). My guys started calling me Greenfeather so it's a name I use here and there.
Use the search engine at the top of the page to see if the topic has been covered, that's what I did for about 3 months before I posted. I guess I've been around the internet and some snappy people so I always look before I leap.

Welcome Robb and Rob. Yep, feel free to ask any questions you like. I'm 41 and started seriously again when I turned 40. Wanted to prove to myself and others you're never too old. Plus I also had my young daughter as motivation. I wanted to be able to play with her at her level. Which mentally is not a problem
You don't even need 45 minutes every day to get in good shape. Don't over do it and just start off slow. Then perhaps go to a 3 day split which allows enough time for recovery, rest and/or cardio between weight training. I just started a push/pull 2 day split and I feel it's going to be lots of painful fun More flexibility for me with a 2 day also.
Anyhow, enjoy yourself. The journey is half the fun

Oh man, just breathing was so much fun I never wanted to do it again! And sneezing felt so good it made my vision blur.
Hi there, Greenfeather. It's nice to have somebody my age starting out with me. I'm in this for the long haul, so please let me know if you have any secrets for dealing with the soreness and stiffness the day after a good workout.
Merry Christmas all. I hope Santa finds you warm and comfy and surrounded by your family and friends.
