VPX Redline Caps, An Ingredient Breakdown
Don't know that this has been posted already in a similar thread, but I was curious about what each ingredient is purported to do. With more than 10 stimulants in each capsule this stuff really has me intrigued. I wanted to learn more about the individual ingredients, and thought I would share what I found:
Caffeine Citrate:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Caffeine citrate is a citrate salt of caffeine, sometimes used in medical treatment, including short-term treatment of apnea of prematurity (lack of breathing in premature infants). Caffeine citrate functions in much the same capacity as does caffeine, but takes effect more quickly; its speed of dissociation is faster than that of caffeine. Like its sister compound, it can be used to dispel pain from a headache. However, caffeine citrate is typically only used to treat severe migraines.
The drug is prepared simply by combining anhydrous caffeine with citric acid monohydrate and sodium citrate dihydrate. In method of action, the preparation is exactly identical to that of caffeine base as the citrate counter ion dissociates in water. Doses of caffeine citrate, due to the added weight of the citrate moiety, are understandably higher than with caffeine base, i.e., it takes a larger dose to get the same amount of caffeine. The ratio of therapeutic doses of caffeine base to its citrate salt is typically 1:2.
Caffeine Anhydrous
Caffeine Anhydrous is a powerful energy accelerant. Caffeine Anhydrous is a fast-acting substance that delivers the right molecular structure to your energy systems for maximum energy and power output.
(This one was hard to dig up more on.)
Evodiamine
From bodybuilding.com database:
Evodiamine is a bioactive alkaloid extract from a plant called Evodiae Fructus. This is a Chinese herb named Wu-Chu-Yu that Chinese herbalist have used for centuries as a weight loss supplement. No known human studies have been published to date.
Based on studies done in laboratories using isolated cells and rodents, evodiamine can raise body temperature, influence the metabolism of certain drugs, and influence the secretion of catecholamines from the adrenal glands.
Evodiamine stimulates the vanilloids to reduce the uptake of fat and increase the natural rate of burning fat. Recent scientific studies have backed up this traditional knowledge. Mammals fed a high-fat diet plus evodiamine actually lose, rather than gain weight.
This herbal extract is a mild, yet remarkable stimulant that has shown positive energy and diuretic characteristics. Even more exciting is its unique ability to significantly elevate the production of body heat and increase resting core temperature. This thermogenic effect may lead to an increase in the calories and fat that are burned for energy. Evodiamine could be one of the biggest breakthroughs in thermogenesis to date.
N Acetyl L Tyrosine
An L Tyrosine precursor that is more 'water soluble' than L Tyrosine. Tyrosine supplementation elevates neurotransmitter levels, cures certain kinds of depression, alleviates others, and can improve mood. The amino acid L-tyrosine is a precursor for several substances made in the body such as neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine.
Guggulsterone E & Z
Very basically are thyroid stimulators derived from plant sources. When the thyroid gland is stimulated, it produces more thyroid hormones such as thyroxin. These thyroid hormones have a profound effect on the rate of metabolism including a direct catabolic effect on adipose (FAT) tissue.
Yerba Mate
Good stuff, nuff said! J/K
(From Wiki)
From reports of personal experience with mate, its physiological effects are similar to (yet distinct from) more widespread caffeinated beverages like coffee, tea, or guarana drinks. Users report a mental state of wakefulness, focus and alertness reminiscent of most stimulants, but often remark on mate's unique lack of the negative effects typically created by other such compounds, such as anxiety, diarrhea, "jitteriness", and heart palpitations. (The laxative effect of coffee derives from a substance that surrounds the raw bean, not the caffeine itself.)
Reasons for mate's unique physiological attributes are beginning to emerge in scientific research. Studies of mate, though very limited, have shown preliminary evidence that the mate xanthine cocktail is different from other plants containing caffeine most significantly in its effects on muscle tissue, as opposed to those on the central nervous system, which are similar to those of other natural stimulants. Mate has been shown to have a relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissue, and a stimulating effect on myocardial (heart) tissue.
Green Tea
(From thyroid.about.com)
In a study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism), plus also had a significant effect on fat oxidation. While some of the effects were originally theorized to be due to the caffeine content of green tea, the researchers discovered that the tea actually has properties that go beyond those that would be explained by the caffeine. The same amount of caffeine as was in the green tea, administered alone, failed to change energy expenditure in other studies. This led reseachers to believe that there is some interaction going on with the active ingredients of green tea that promotes increased metabolism and fat oxidation.
The researchers indicated that their findings have substantial implications for weight control. A 4% overall increase in 24-hour energy expenditure was attributed to the green tea extract, however, the research found that the extra expenditure took place during the daytime. This led them to conclude that, since thermogenesis (the body's own rate of burning calories) contributes 8-10% of daily energy expenditure in a typical cubject, that this 4% overall increase in energy expenditure due to the green tea actually translated to a 35-43% increase in daytime thermogenesis.
5 Hydroxy L Tryptophan (AKA 5HTP)
(From Lightparty.com)
REDUCES ANXIETY - in a 1990 study in The Netherlands, 20 patients with panic disorder took 5-HTP (60 mg intravenously). None of the patients demonstrated an increase in depression or anxiety following treatment, while nine patients in the control group reported a depressed mood. Several of the 5-HTP patients stated that the infusion was "a relief" and subsequent blood tests showed that blood levels of melatonin increased after the 5-HTP infusions.
LIFTS DEPRESSION - in a 1991 Swiss study, patients diagnosed with clinical depression were given either 150 mg of fluvoxamine (a standard antidepressant drug) or 100 mg of 5-HTP, three times daily. The patients were evaluated every two weeks using standard tests for depression. After six weeks, both groups showed improvement, but the 5-HTP group had a larger percentage of improved patients and a slightly higher degree of improvement. The effect of 5-HTP also became greater as time passed; that is, it produced more relief in week six than in week two.
Another report compared the results of three studies involving 5-HTP and imipramine (another standard antidepressant). All three trials showed no difference in the effect of the two substances. Once again, 5-HTP performed as well as the conventional drug and 5-HTP did not produce the side effects of dry mouth and tremors typically caused by imipramine.
HELPFUL FOR WEIGHT LOSS - A 1992 study with obese subjects in Italy found the 5- HTP produced "significant weight loss." Specifically, 5-HTP helped patients reduce their carbohydrate intake and gave them a feeling of "early satiety" - that they'd eaten enough and felt calorically satisfied. This, in turn, led to a reduced food intake and, from there, weight loss was at hand.
Even without special diets, those in the group taking 5-HTP lost an average 3.1 to 3.7 pounds during the six-week study; those in the placebo group averaged only a 1.1 pound loss. "These findings together with the good tolerance observed suggest that 5-HTP may safely be used to treat obesity," concluded the researchers. Typically, for weight loss purposes, 5-HTP is taken at a dosage of 50-100 mg about one-half hour before mealtime.
Vinpocetine
(Yea, I said vin po-a who-what? too)
(From WIKI)
Health Applications/Physiological Applications of Vinpocetine
Possible Nootropic Properties
It has been claimed in some quarters that Vinpocetine has applications to improving memory, and, possibly, improving other forms of cognitive function[citation needed]. Whether this has been confirmed scientifically and objectively is yet to be confirmed[citation needed].
Applications to Muscle Performance
Judging from the above, Vinpocetine is regarded as having scientifically verified applications to improving muscle performance/efficiency. The method via which this occurs is yet to be elaborated.

Yohimbine HCL
It's great for erections!
I had a hard time digging up a lot of info on this one. Here's what I found on a site called anabolicfitness.net:
YOHIMBINE HCL
INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS YOHIMBINE HCL?
Yohimbine hcl is a synthetic copy of the active and effective alkaloid in yohimbe extract.
WHAT GOOD IS YOHIMBINE HCL?
Well, its main benefit is that it allows for the release of fatty acids from "stubborn" fat.
WHAT IS "STUBBORN" FAT?
Typically, so called strubborn fat is estrogenic in nature- though some people just have high #'s of A2 receptors- the A2 receptor is highly influenced by estrogen- if you are a women or have estrogenic fat patterns you most likely have large #'s of A2 receptors.
HOW DOES YOHIMBINE WORK?
It binds to the A2 and blocks Norepinephrine(and other A2 agonist INCLUDING ESTROGEN) from binding to and agonizing it (which inhibits the release of fatty acids)- thus it allows for fatty acids to be "burned" and thus stubborn fat to be lost.
Hope this helps some people.

Good job!
I'd like to add that yohimbine essentially potentiates any other stimulants taken with it. It reduces a negative feedback that we'd normally get when taken CNS stimulants. So the stimulants (like caffeine) work harder and maybe longer. But one potential side-effect of yohimbine to be aware of is high blood pressure, but that typically occurs in higher doses.
