Holiday Tradition
Every year the on the Sunday before Christmas my family gets together for the holidays. It sounds all nice and good but the main objective is for the once a year backyard football game (Think the football game in sleepers). It's usually 10 on 10 and hard four. Most of the players are mid 20's or late teens and most were or are high school stand outs or played some college. Most bring cleets and a change of clothes becuase its for bragging rights all year. I myself change my workout routine three months before the game to get ready. I was wondering if anyone else had similar things in their families.

we all pack up and go down south to my grandfolks place. grandma stuffs us silly for a day, we get pressies and get spoilt and play backyard cricket. but everyone is pushing late teens or mid/late twenties now, so its not as much fun as it used to be. we might sneak out onto the golf course for a hit, or go to the TAB and make stupid little bets on races to pass some time, then go and watch the boxing day test on telly. good times

Ya we call it the turkey bowl and play thanksgivving morning at mine. A bunch of guys show up to play "TOUCH" football. This yr it was played in a foot of snow. Had a great time the best leg workout I had in a couple months. All the slipping and sliding was tough on the tendons but it was well worth it.

I always get really drunk because I can't deal with my sister-in-law and kids running all over the place when I'm sober.
Oh, crap. They're coming this weekend. I need to buy some whiskey.

it was fun on both sides of the game and many times someone was throwing the ball while someone else was throwing a snowball.

Never quite got the taste for Scotch, but I've had Johnny Walker Gold, and Johnny Walker Blue, and they weren't bad.
I'm more of a bourbon man.

We just do the normal Xmas stuff. I wish we did the football thing but I think I'd end up putting most of them in the hospital. I'm the only one who is really in shape except for my brother-in-law who plays soccer in a few different legues (he is a fast runner).
