Should I even bother asking her out again?
I've been talking to this girl for over a few weeks:
colin:
-Asked her out to an Opera event.
-She said she might and asked me to give her a call that day.
-I did and she said she didn't have the car with her and she hates busing, so she didn't come
-Now I told her I would ask her out to watch the movie Knocked Up but she requires a car so...
-She said if it's at a specific theatre close to her place, she can walk there
Quote:
haha looks like I"m bringing you back to facebook.
I forgot to ask if you're interested in volunteering for the competition that I'm helping organize in the winter semester....the one I took *****'s contact info for.
Me
350pm June 8th
yes plz...do u also have an event planned for...2010 that I can volunteer for?
lol j/k, but it's too early to tell. if i'm still in ottawa, i might do it.
btw, i just registered for bluesfest. if i get enough hours i can go to ANY concert i want. i really want to see bob dylan.D
you should try it out.
Her
1050am June 20th
Are you volunteering for HOPE? Hooope!! Matt Mays
Me
637pm June 21st
Nah... I did want to play but it's all full.
Are you volunteering?
And who's "Matt Mays"?
Her
1058am June 22nd
I was going to....til they wanted me to do manual labour and well...I'm not built for manual labour. hahaha.
Matt Mays is an amazing singer!! D Soooo stokked.
Me
452pm June 22nd
don't wanna harm that petite frame of yours, eh? what did you want to do, hand out candies lol?
PS have u heard of Opera Under the Stars?
Her
1216am June 23rd
candies? psscha....i was thinking more along the lines of name tags....candies are a bit too intense for me p
i have not. my guess is that its an outdoor opera?
Me
718pm June 24th
how did u guess that genius?! D
ya it's outdoor opera which spans for two nights. i guess u're not into opera?
and what's with that "I want you" Uncle Sam expression lol?
Her
443am June 26th
ahaha don't patronize me p
I've never been to an opera so I really can't judge. Is that one of your interests?
lol I've never gotten that comment before! And maybe its because I'm such a yankee....Cali.
Big Canada Day plans?
Me
1031am June 26th
i wouldn't say i'm a hardcore fan, but i do like it. it's very relaxing.
you should come out this weekend...a yankee could use a change of taste(will be something like this http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0dzZTPWrSM).
As for Canada Day...nothing big. just going to a barbecue and then downtown to watch the fireworks and stuff.
how about you?
Her
257pm June 27th
wow that was amazing! I just may have to check-er out!
I'm not too sure....I think I'm going to wing it. Probably do something downtown though. Hopefully it won't rain again!!
Me
416pm June 27th
ya u should...lemme know if you are going. i'm probably going to stop by on Friday @ around 8 (might be later if i finish stupid work late).
last year kinda sucked...we were walking around downtown in pouring rain for hours, trying to get into one of the bars...u know how packed it is on Canada Day...
Her
210pm June 28th
I'm not sure if i'm going yet...it looks like I'm going to wing it. But gimme a shout [ph#].
Yeah..last year was horrible. My first Canada Day in 18yrs and it was a wet one. Not impressed. - I might go down to the states for Independence Day if this year is shotty again...haha.
Me
1226pm June 29th
alright i'll give you a call when i'm done and see if you're still up for it...
first Canada Day in 18 years? lol, where were you for that long?
Her
948am July 2nd
So i'm sooooooo sorry about the opera....i honestly wanted to go but I'm not a busing fan. me + buses = badness. but how was it?
I usually go to Cali for the summer so I celebrate independence day. it was pretty sad...i was wearing red/white/blue yesterday withot realizing it. How was yur canada day?
Me
1104am July 3rd
well Solina...don't worry about the Opera thing. I guess it's a good thing you didn't come because I was there for like half an hour and they were still doing preparations. After that it started raining so I just left and went to the movies with my buddies.
On top of that, I started getting sick Friday night and by Sunday, it was horrible. I went to watch the fireworks and stuff but I felt like I was on drugs the whole time, so I just went home and rested when everyone else went out. This is the 2nd Canada Day it's happened to me! (
Can't believe you were wearing those colours. I'm surprised no one bothered you too much LOL. So what did you do on Canada Day?
Are you going to the USA for Independence Day? Seems like you are American first and Canadian second, EH?
Her
955am July 4th
Awe that's too bad about the Opera! It did look like it was going to rain that day though....well it has everyday lately. Not cool.
That must've been an experience....watching the fireworks while feeling drugged up. I'm pretty sure everyone around me knew how that felt...they were passing around a joint. haha. Where did you watch the fireworks?
So today is Independence Day and yeah, I'm going to celebrate it American Stylez. haha. I have some american friends here...unfortunately I have an important class tonight so I wasn't able to head down to the states (
Are you hitting Bluesfest? I guess tonight is the first night.
Me
134pm July 4th
LOL ya I guess it's a habit for some people to smoke on these occasions. I don't know what's so special about it...you feel like crap anyway.
We went to watch fireworks in front of the Parliment building. It's not as good of a view as Hull, but better than nothing.
If I see some big fireworks tonight, now I know who's behind it.
What are your plans today? Heading downtown in your Uncle Sam costume pointing at people and just like in your profile pic haha? D
As for Bluesfest...I'm not going there tonight but I might go tomorrow (not volunteering - just to watch Bob Dylan). I am supposed to be volunteering on Friday and then 5 other days after that. I really don't feel like doing it anymore, so I think I'm just gonna cancel all my shifts after tomorrow. Are you going to see any of the concerts?
Her
159pm July 5th
awesome! So did you see Fiest? I was actually at parliament as well....then I headed to the market. I somehow got into a club but I don't remember which one it was. Kind of a hazy night. lol.
I was actually supposed to head down to Phili yesterday but I had to stay for family reasons ( So i ended up going downtown and having a couple drinks with some friends! Good times p and yes, I did do my famous uncle sam pose. haha.
I'm planning on going to see....Kanye but I'm not sure which others I'll be going to. Depends on what my friends are interested in as well. Bob Dylan 'eh? That sounds awesome! But the weather isn't all that great...too bad. Let me knwo how it was!
Me
1021am July 6th
no...I'm guessing it's a band? We only went to watch the fireworks and before that we were just walking around downtown for a while...didn't really pay attention to the bands.
Seems like you had a little bit too much to drink lol.
I'm not a big fan of Kanye or in fact any rapper, but I bet the place will be packed. Too many young ones drool over him.
Bob Dylan wasn't too bad last night. He's definitely losing his voice (turning into Louis Armstrong) but I guess just to see him live was kinda exciting. He didn't sing any of my favourite songs while I was there though. I only stayed for about an hour because I promised a couple of friends I would go to the movies with them. Also, I saw these two old guys (50+) dancing like retards (obviously too drunk). It was hilarious!
ps cute new pic...i like that style. looks like the guy is trying to go for a dance with u...unless you know him haha D

Fiest is a singer...she's awesome. From Alberta. Its like..indie music. she only played 4 songs though....
Yeah...it shoudl be crazy on Kanye Day...but its the same day as Hope Volleyball....so I'm not sure if I'm going anymore. I'd rather see Matt Mays than Kanye.
I heard Bob Dylan was pretty good....some of my other friends went to see him as well. At least you had the visual entertainment though. ahaha. Are you going to see anyone else or does that pretty much wrap it up for you and bluesfest?
So you're into the casual style? ahah. p
Me
305pm July 8th
Ah, usually Indie music is actually pretty good. I'll see if I can find a song by her.
I think Kanye is playing at night, so maybe you can attend both ( unless Matt's playing at around the same time). So you are just gonna see the concert but not play in the tournament?
A couple of my friends and I were planning on going to the beach next week. I don't know if it'll be on HOPE day or before. Might not even be Mooney's Bay.
As for Bluesfest, I think that's it for me. Exception is when I can hear the concert from my room sometimes. D
I guess now I'm lol...I think it's because of the headband, pose, clothes and the fact it's YOU.
I know what I'm not into though...emo/goth. D
Her
854pm July 8th
1234 is an awesome song by fiest! shouldn't be too hard to find. she's kind of awesome like that!!
Yeah....see I was planning on going to see both but I'm not sure. Because I'd want to get to Kanye show decently early to get good place...that wouldn't happen if I went to see Matt Mays as well....but we'll see. there is still a good week to go.
Awesome! You guys should go to hope and watch y'all some Matt Mays....because well...he's just that great.
Frig you're lucky.....you live pretty close then I take'er?
So you're pretty big on movies 'eh? Which ones have you seen so far this summer?
ahaha awe how's sweet! Funny how you said emo/goth thing because I just painted my nails black. Not because I'm either, just because if my nails are clear I stare at my hands instead of studying......yeah I have weird ways of procrastinating. ahaha.
Me
1127am July 9th
cool song title...reminds me of another song where the guy starts it by counting from 1 to 13 in harmony lol.
Never listened to Matt Mays before. I might need to check out some of his songs too. For Kanye, I think he's on MBNA stage so there is a lot of area reserved for that. Besides you can always push people to the sides to get through to the front.
We'll try to make it there for HOPE, but it's gonna be hard to find a spot on the beach. I'm guessing all the sand part will be filled with volleyball nets.
Movies...well ya I guess I do watch a lot of them. I have seen all the major ones like Spiderman 3, Pirates, Die Hard 4 (LOVED IT!) and Transformers. I just download most of the movies and watch them with my roommates at home. There are still over a dozen left on my computer, but don't have time to watch them these days.
How about you?
LOL I've never heard a girl say she procrastinates by looking at her nails! I know girls look at them *occasionally* but this is a little too much. o Maybe wear gloves while you are studying? haha D Nail polish kinda just goes unnoticed for me. It's the emo make-up, piercing, clothes, and hair style I don't like lol.
Her
1022pm July 11th
the facebook haitus is over! ahaha.
Ahaha...I'm kind of pro at manuveuring through crowds, I must admit. Sadly I have a midterm on Monday that I forgot about so I think I need to pick one or the other. (
Yeah Hope is pretty crazy from what I heard (in terms of big crowds). But it should be fun! Do you play vball?
Wow see....stupid schooling is getting in the way of everything. I've only seen Spiderman, Shrek and Oceans 13. I'm the same way with movies though....I just want to see Die Hard, Pirates and Transformers...looks like you beat me to them p I've been kind of wrapped up in catching up on shows though.
Aahha...yeah I'm pretty unique like that p I'm sure you must have some pretty good procrastination techniques though! You're graduating soon...you could probably school me. ahaha.
Me
1013am July 12th
Haha looks like it didn't last that long. Addicted?
Too bad about your midterm. School does suck!
Ya, I play volleyball but nothing big. Just sometimes when I go to the beach and rec at school (closed in the summer). I want to play intramurals again but it looks like I won't have time for that next semester.
You're into Transformers and Die Hard? LOL, that's interesting...
but ya the actions sequences are amazing in both. Pirates was alright. It just dragged for too long.
Have you seen Knocked Up? I have yet to see it because a lot of people keep telling me it's really funny. That and the new movie Chuck and Larry. What shows are you into?
Of course I could teach you a few things. Learn from the master haha D
I think it was last year when I had a final exam and the night before it I went to play paint ball and then a party afterwards(stayed up late)...obviously the exam didn't go too well LOL.
Her
342pm July 13th
Addicted? Me? Noo.... lol. I really only check once my messages or posts build up...but I decided to avoid facebook because I had a paper due...
Well you only have a semester left...so suck it up p Are you going straight into the work force or are you taking time off afterwards?
Yeah...I have 2 bros so their tastes brushed off on me a bit. I haven't seen knocked up....don't actually know what its about.
As for shows...well I watched the season of Heroes...and I'm catching up on 24 right now...I think I'm on season 5. I also usually watch House and Smallville. How about you?
haha Beauty! Good to know that you can prioritize p
Me
819pm July 13th
That's good you're not addicted because I've seen some people that are soooo attached to Facebook. I personally wouldn't even check my email that often but at work I don't have much else to do LOL.
Ya one semester but it's gonna be hardest one. I am planning on doing my masters. I don't really like the whole idea of working for corporate 9-5 and boring myself like I'm doing now so I wanna do my own thing (research/prof). What are your career plans?
Knocked Up is the one where a guy...well "knocks up" a girl during one night stand and she gets pregnant lol http//www.imdb.com/title/tt0478311/
Everyone talks about how good these shows are but I have only seen a few episodes of Smallville (good show). I don't watch that much TV these days but I am hooked on The Office (US). Also, I'll watch Family Guy, Friends, King of Queens, and Seinfeld if it's on.
Her
1012pm July 16th
haha sure...that's what you say. I know the real reason you check facebook....to talk to me p ahaha.
I know the feeling...when I'm studying, working sounds like so much fun...but its opposite when I'm working. Can't make up my mind. I'm hoping to either go to law school or do my CFA...not sure which one yet though. I still have a bit of time.
Wow prof 'eh? So you're into public speaking?
DId you get around to seeing it yet? Knocked up that is.
Yeah...my shows rock...I watch the Office too...kind of...I watched all the episodes in like the span of a week. It was amazing. lol. My fav is the one where Jim dresses up like Dwight...classic.
Me
1132am July 17th
haha ya sure what can I say...you are so...irresistible!
Law school...pretty hard stuff. I was looking at a law book the other day and I could barely understand a sentence lol. What's CFA?
You don't really need to be a good public speaker to become a prof (you should see some profs in Engineering). I guess I'm not too bad at it. I have done class presentations before and they went fine.
Knocked up...well actually my roommates and I went to see it last night but we got the timing wrong and were an hour late, so we watched Transformers AGAIN. Still enjoyable. D
Have you?
LOL ya that part was hilarious! I think Dwight says something like "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and when Jim takes out his bobblehead, he's like "identity theft is not a joke!". haha
My fav. line is "that's what she said". D
Her
1128am July 18th
haha...so I am told p lol lol
CFA is a certified financial analyst....so that's what you need to become a financial advisor or a broker...that type of thing. I'm so torn between the two now....they're both so interesting....
Haha...that's true. Our CSI profs are pretty sketchy....so I can only imagine engineering profs. Must keep things interesting p
ahaha....awesome...no i haven't had the chance to catch up on movies yet...maybe this weekend. I just finished my last midterm on monday....so I'm catching up on sleep now. haha. I really want to see die hard though....
Ahaha...I loved that! I actually started saying the "that's what she said" a couple times without even realizing it. I don't know anyone that doesn't love that show. I've been told I need to watch arrested development now though...

ahh, seems like both require a lot of work...maybe do the one that takes less time to complete?
How did your midterm go? And did you go to any of the concerts?
ya Die Hard is a must watch. I would say you should come watch Knocked Up with me next weekend but then you require a car and all that so...
lol I use that line sometimes too. I was actually watching an episode at lunch time today since no one was around to look at what I was doing...it was the one where everyone knows Oscar's gay and Dwight buys a "gaydar"...and uses it on himself haha.
Her
Today at 304pm
lol We'll see...I still have time to figure out which one it is that I would like to do....
My midterm went well...not too difficult. It was one of those ones that I had extra time at the end...so I colour coordinated the values. hahaha.
I ended up seeing Kanye West....I woke up early that day to study so that I'd have some free time at night. It was awesome. We were pretty close to the stage. How about you?
You shoudl come see it at Silvercity p If you do then I coudl walk over. hahaha. I think I'm going to see transformers this weekend...I'm sooo stoked. I've heard nothing but good things.
AHAHA....I love that one. I love how Michael goes in for a kiss. his facial expression is priceless!!

I noticed that you live in Ottawa so I'll take the time to read it and comment shortly.

Hmm, I actually don't know. She said her brother took the car last time so maybe it's a family car.
Thanks for the read bro.

I say go for it, you really have nothing to lose. It's better than kicking yourself later for not pursuing it.

Here's the big problem, you have long converstations with girls. Too much talking about civilized things makes you a girlfriend. She has no sexual interest in you and finds it very easy to make excuses to avoid you physically.
She likes your feminie quality (no person attacks) for sensitive chats but you don't turn her on. You need to stop talking so much to girls about boring serious topics and start challenging them more. Your style of talk isn't the worst, but you need to make fun of her more and cut it shorter -30-

See normally I would agree with that assessment but I just met a girl and I have long civilized talks and shes all over me now. lol I guess I just got lucky. But then again I don't compliment her and all that other alpha crap to do. (Didnt read his convo so I may not be saying the same things he is)

If you talk to your girl in person, it will be alot better. He did that large-ass converstation online, not good

Cliffs are there.
I don't mind not having a car, but looks like she does. Hard to tell if she's that spoiled or not.

That's one of my problems. Sometime I just connect with people right away so that I can talk about basically anything. Same thing with girls. But other times, I always talk about "civilized" things for some reason. It also depends on the other person and how open she's.

Actually I met her like 3 years ago. First time I didn't pay too much attention because I had a gf. Second time was about a week before she sent me a message on facebook (check the transcript). We were volunteering together and I was talking to her for more than 2 hours or so.

No I would definately not bother. She is either making excuses or would prefer not to walk somewhere to see you. Don't bother with the obnoxious bitch

Hell I talked to her online (facebook) for like a week, then texting a little and on the phone. She was all over my nuts and still is when we hang out. If you can play it right (not a complete homo afc) it can workout.
Edit: finally read most of the conversations and OP you did kinda overdo it with the conversations. I could see how she may get the just friend vibe from you. If your going to keep an ongoing facebook conversation keep your responses short and seem distant and make yourself in charge. Hard to explain but getting girls off there isn't hard.

Opera isn't really an ideal first date. I mean stereotypically it's boring, watching some fat ass sing for hours. How would you guys get to know eachother when your constantly whispering?
However i've never been to an Opera so maybe it;s different from my perspective of it (big hall, lots of people, stuffy, boring),
maybe you should offer something like bowling or crazy golf.
Just my input.

The Opera event I was referring to was called "Opera Under the Stars" which means it was outside. There were a lot of places to sit and do stuff.

She called you "Dude" and the conversation sounds like it's between 2 buddies. It's over -30-

Not what I wanted to hear, but I guess you are right. I was surprised when she said "Dude" but tried to ignore it. I guess I'm not really good at the whole flirting through text thing.

You? I don't think any man is good at it.
I was around before this e-communicating craze and I sea that the easier technology makes things, the less real life skills people have. You've got to stop this texting stuff, it's not good. The phone is your friend to set up dates and then talk to girl in real life. That's the only true way to be successful -30-
