Do sugars in ingredients matter?

I was wondering if sugar as an ingredient in foods matter if the total carbs on the nutritional facts are low? Like in bacon, it's often cured with sugar but the total carbs are less than 1 gram. Should I look for sugarless foods or are these ok?

Count them.

Assume less than 1 gram = 1 gram.
Assume any and all labels are lying and provide you with 1 more gram than they admit to.

Government regulations allow manufacturers to do this legally, so you should assume that they do.

Count everything.

Uncounted, they add up and can wreck your progress.

As Atavis mentioned...count the carbs...but to specifically answer your question...

Yes, those foods are OK...as long as you can fit them into your max carbs per day macros. Is it better to find foods with ZERO sugar...yes. Is it OK to eat foods with very low sugar...yes...but keep track of everything...and learn your body's limits.

You can get uncured bacon (porc flank) at any local grocery. That won't have sugar, nitrites and all the stuff that they add to cured bacon. And it tastes better, imo.

You will be hard pressed to find any processed food on the shelves in America that does not contain high fructose corn sweetener , honey and other sugars.

They should most definitly be counted and in larger quantities then what is listed on the label as one already stated
