Pouch...annoying as hell
hey guys, I've been trying to excercise this "pouch" if you wanna call it off my mid section for 1 1/2 months now. I mean, when I stand up my stomach looks semi-flat but when I sit done I have this pouch of fat that just sits there and i can't get rid of the damn thing, I've done crunches/sit ups and nothing has worked...any suggestions?

do 4x10000 crunches everyday, cardio and diet won't do anything for you....

I used to have the same problem, do around 4/5 sets of 40 crunches. Do them slowly, and lift slightly more than shoulderblade height is off the ground.
This, coupled with dieting and cardio exercise will turn your fat into muscle. (Well, not really, but I like how that sounds.)

You have to watch out for fats, sugars, and unnecessary carbs too.

whether its organic, natural, or whatever-the-**** you wanna call it, unused sugar will spike your insulin levels and tell your body to store the unused energy as fat...predominately in your mid-section...sad but true

1) Crunches are anarobic, and does not burn fat as good as aerobic, and are not a sound exercise plan, middle aged men and women with a gut typically do this, this is why they stay the same
2) FAT DOES NOT TURN INTO MUSCLE.

dude that just beacuse your fat was spread out when you stand up. so when you sit down it all bunches up. clean up your diet and do lots of cardio if want to lose some fat

doing crunches will not help that at all...
its pretty much already covered in replies, I just wanted to emphasize by repeating.
(from exrx.net: )
Spot Reduction Myth
Contrary to what the infomercials suggest there is no such thing as spot reduction. Fat is lost throughout the body in a pattern dependent upon genetics, sex (hormones), and age. Overall body fat must be reduced to lose fat in any particular area. Although fat is lost or gained throughout the body it seems the the first area to get fat, or the last area to become lean, is the midsection (in men and some women, especially after menopause) and hips and thighs (in women and few men). Sit-ups, crunches, leg-hip raises, leg raises, hip adduction, hip abduction, etc. will only exercise the muscles under the fat.
