milk or water in a post-workout shake?
what is better to mix your post workout shake with, milk or water? I've read arguments for both in which some people say water because milk slows down the digestion of the protein and some people say that a mixture of both whey and casein is better (leading me to believe that a whey protein shake mixed with milk, which is 80% casein is the best scenario)

There is no right answer. I go with water personally.

depends. im cutting, so the extra calories from milk are not needed if i can help it (thank you fruity whey isolate!) but when im bulking its teh milk all teh way.
as far as digestion times go, i wouldnt sweat it. i dont believe it makes much of a difference (if any) but thats my opinion and the cool thing about america is that you can do your own research and form your own opinion about things. my opinion is: no it doesnt really matter...

there was a thread here that had info on milk having some anti-catabolic properties, problem was i think it was whole milk and not 2%.
i use milk for post workout and soon in all my shakes when i plan a bulk phase.

Whichever works best for you. If you were going to use milk I'd go with skim or a low-fat milk product.
