When I was 17 and 295lbs, i had HUGE purple stretch marks on my back. When people saw them, they would ask me what happened, because it looked like I got whipped or something.
By the time I was 195lbs at 19yrs old, they were still there, but they were white/clear.
Now i'm 24ish, and they are almost not noticeible at all, and i mean AT ALL. If you really look close, they look like healed scars (a little lighter in color and a little raised).
Just to point out, when i was 295lbs at 17, i was in REALLY bad shape from being locked away and being forced to take lithium and thorozine, it was all chemical weight as far as i'm concerned, so my back was very fat. (amongst the rest of my body lol). When I was 280lbs not too long ago, I was actually much healthier...

I dont trust tan places, because 1 I have a skin condition, and 2, scared of future skin cancer. Anyways, about the stretch marks, I have them, I had huge purple ones, but now they just faded into the natural skin color. You can still see them, but they arent that bad, I'm more scared about this damn brown/bruise looking spot that has come up on my chest between my pecks lol.

Ive tried a lot of stuff and nothing really does anything. Hopefully your stretch marks will fade, but It depends on your body a lot. I have some which are over 4 years old and still have not faded.

I had stretch marks when I was fat, my upper legs had many of them and I had a few near my armpits. A few months ago after I had lost probably 70 pounds I wanted to show off that I had stretch marks so I looked at my legs and they were gone. I still have the ones near my armpit, but they are not very noticable.

Water
I have lots of stretch marks and i have talked to doctors and skin doctors and they all stress to stay very hydrated, they say that our hydration levels help with the elasticity in our skin, and i think with time they will go away, no cosmetic surgury for me lol.
