Israeli Cabinet OKs Release of Prisoners...

The Israeli Cabinet on Sunday approved the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners, officials said, in its latest gesture of support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agreed to the prisoner release two weeks ago during a meeting with Abbas, part of an Israeli strategy to bolster the Palestinian leader in his standoff against the Hamas militant group. The release has been put on hold while Israel finalizes the list of prisoners.

Cabinet participants, speaking on condition of anonymity because the meeting was still going on, said the release was approved by a wide margin. But they said Israel still has not decided on the names of prisoners to be released. Israel is holding some 10,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the case.

Maybe through their calculations if Abbas is the leader of the Palestinians it will lead to overall less death if they are released.

I dont know...

I assume(always a dangeorus thing) they released prisoners who were actively part of militant movements like Hamas who attack Israeli civilians....they may not have actively taken part in attacks which means there is "no blood on their hands" but Israel detaining them is perfectly inline with my understanding of International Law(since you guys are such big fans of it) and is also inline with how the U.S./Europe/Canada would treat such persons.....

China would probably just shoot them....in any Arab country or Turkey they would be tortured and/or killed.

This means that every single Israelis that serves in the armed forces is serving in the occupation and is 100% guilty of participation in occupation. Under international law occupied people have the right to fight for there freedom and killing soldiers is 100% justifyed.

The palestinians have the full right to kill as many jews as possible that are from Israel and serve in the Israeli armed forces. There is nothing wrong with doing so.

If they serve in the armed forces then they need to stop crying and pretending they are innocent. They are serving in a occupational armed forces that is occupying other peoples land. If they die then they cannot claim they are innocent especially when they are killed travelling to a occupational base situated on occupied arab terratory which is not even internationally recognised as belonging to Israel.

Yes you are correct. The settlers are actually armed with weapons and holding ground with support of the armed forces. So they can be killed. This would be justifyed for the people to do so.

Most people make the mistake of seeing settlers as innocent civillians they are not. They are actually an armed millita. They have a **** load of weapons and are backed by the Israel military and goverment.
