6 reasons I dont like most cops.

The 6 reason I dont like cops much:

1) I know 5 people very well who are cops. They have no business being cops. Bad people in general. Bad attitudes. Lets the power go to their head. Very violent people. I know this isnt a representation of all cops, but its bad when everyone i know that is a cop is a sack of ****.

2) I committed a very minor crime when I was 17. To get probation, I was forced to admit to a number of crimes that did not happen (big crimes, like drug trafficing. At that time in my life, I had never even seen drugs)

3)I have been robbed before and I had no idea what the person looked like. The cops wanted me to ID "this black guy" who had been causing trouble in the area.

4) Any jackass can become a cop. No college degree, No real mental testing (otherwise my brother wouldnt be a cop), etc...

5) Cops think they are above the law. It is disgusting to see the cops I know and randomly on the law break so many damn traffic laws.

6) Lastly, cops are just your average person in reality, and your average person for the most part, is a sack of ****.


not all cops are bad though....Ive had very good encounters with LEO's as well...

The main problem i see is that cops have to deal with the worst scum of the world every day and the cops let it get the best of them (the cops who are "bad" cops)...They should not have signed up for the job, or stay in the job, if they cant handle it.

Basically, their shuold be a higher standard for the qualifications of cops and they should have better training.

There are a lot of good cops out there that get a bad reputation from the bad apples. I do agree that a lot of cops are cops because they want to carry guns and be in positions of power which is a very, very dangerous combination.

The only time I really have run-ins with the police is during traffic stops. I am always polite and respectful and when the police return the favor it is the mark of a professional. There are unfortunately a lot of cops that will be total d i c k s no matter what. I have had one cop be a total assho le when it was totally unwarranted during a traffic stop when I had a taillight out. Ridiculous.

There isn't a limit as far as I know...some people have been over a million in the red.

you just contradicted urself. well sorta. u realize that 5 cops isnt a good sample for all cops but at the same time you say its bad when every cop you know is bad. i see your point in that you randomly meet 5 cops and they all happen to be bad and so the probability of most cops being bad is high.....but have you considered how you met those people?

thats the system and you basically took a plea bargian. i dont see how a patrol officer had anything to do with that other than do his/her job by arresting you

alot of areas are majority black. how unlikely is it that a black guy in a black dominated area causes trouble?

i agree with the education part but that doesnt mean anyone can be a cop. have you actually done your research as to what it takes to go through the selection process and how the odds are against you in every step

alot of times, cops speed to get from a to b in response to a call. they dont always have their lights + sirens on to perserve quiet atmosphere and i think running with only your lights on is for when you expect the car in front of you to pull over.

alot of careers consist of an average person. how do you find them average? because they hold a position that doesnt require much education? does that mean they have no ambition to advance in the field? so what if a cop holds a BA/BS. is he still a sack of **** ?

it seems the more power they gain being part of bigger departments is when they get power trips

to the OP: i've never had any issues with cops except for the ******* school/mall cops that get off to having authority. i don 't live in a big city however, so i'm not sure how cops are in more urban areas. but you do have a good point...if some jerk wanted to become a cop simply for the power then he very well could. too bad it isn't all about protecting the rule of law, but hey that's human nature.

A few cops in my town are awesome guys, but the ones that are dicks are really huge dicks. They are the best paid local cops in the state (for no reason) so it seems that some of them think they have an important job and let even more nonexistant power go to their heads.

But in general I have nothing against cops (no mega-neg).

Why is everyone getting so upset about the OP's opinion? First of all he's in the red, no one should care. Second, read the bolded parts that I quoted. Let him have his opinion, I've had my fair ecounter with cops who are literally pieces of **** but they're NOT all like that. It does suck that such bad people can exist in our legal system but are you going to put your life on the line?

Anyways, I don't know how hard it is to become a cop so I can't comment on whether or not the process should be changed.

People like BPP are out protecting the citizens of the US, and all that other people can do is criticize from a distance. I guarantee that if the US didn't have police protection that the majority of society would complain. Get over it and let the police do their jobs, or get a different form of government.

There's police corruption / brutality in any form of gov't. If anything , you would think that a capitalist democracy would have the least police corruption, but I doubt if that statement applies to the US
