Car insurance uk vs us
It seems that in america as soon as you pass your test you can jump into anything,. like a 5.0l mustang.
yet here in the u.k. youd be lucky to get a 1.4 on your own insurance.
so how do all you guys who have just passed and got a hot car afford it? does mummy and daddy pay for you?

it's probably gonna cost me the best part of 2 grand to be insured on a 1.2 with the extras i'm gonna put on it
alloys, new airfilter, exhaust, visible system, probably other things
probably will be more than 2 grand, i've got to pay for it all
i'm gonna do some advanced driving skills tests to try lower it some though

Why would you put all that ****e on a 1.2?
Save it and wait a couple of years when you can get insured on a better car and put the money spent on those towards it.

because i'll be keeping this car for quite a while probably, maybe even until i finish university so i want a bit of fun with it
i'm paying for the car, the insurance, petrol.. everything so i'm probably gonna have very little money for anything else, i'll also be in full time education so even if i tried i wouldn't be able to afford a new car until i'm working full time which won't be for ages yet.

I guarantee there are better things than spending it on alloys, air filter etc, it will make you look like a gary boy. Open a savings account or ISA and put the money into it. Much better option!
