Speed work with Long distance cardio

For soccer i have to do speed work and long distance......how often should i be running my 3-4 miles.......and how often should i be working on my sprints....for division 1 soccer

Long distance every other day.

I'll typically run between 3-10 miles on m-w-f mornings..

I find it best to work on sprints either when your fresh and really dedicate a cardio session and work at them hard with a timer..

or at the end of your long distance run when your fatiqued.

I am following a program that alternates long distance road runs with track sprinting workouts. I run mileage on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (anywhere from 3 mile tempo run to 8 mile LSD) and runs sprints on Tuesday and Thursday (usually 6-8 X 100 meters, with full recovery in-between).
