New Here - Just Need a Quick Check-up

New to bb.com and wanted to see if you guys thought I was starting off on the right path. I'm 32, male, 171 lbs, and unfortunately thin with the nice little spare tire. So I'm back in the gym for a few weeks just trying to work on general fitness.

My wife and I did Body for Life about 5 years ago with great success. I lost a lot of fat and really leaned up. Then we had a baby and workouts just went away.

So right now I'm lifting early morning, doing quick 30 to 40 minute full body workouts on Mon, Wed, Fri just to get muscle groups back used to the workload. Doing intense interval cardio for 20 minutes on Tues, Thurs, Sat. first thing in the morning.

I'm eating very clean, around 2200-2500 cals a day on approx. a 40 40 20 breakdown with a free day on the weekends. Taking GNC mega men multivitamin and vitality pack.

With my job it's hard to eat real meals during the day so my mid-morning and mid-afternoon meals are myoplex shakes. I'm a night owl and getting my body used to getting up at 5:30 in the morning was tough so I got some NO Xplode for pre-workout to help get me into the morning routine and it's helped alot. Probably won't buy another tub though once I get adjusted to the AM workout.

Post workout I'm mixing some ON whey and oatmeal in the blender, sometimes with a banana to change the flavor up a bit. At night it's usually cottage cheese and fruit.

Lunches and dinners are BFL type meals with lean proteins, approved carbs, and a serving of vegetables with no butter or sauces.

Does all of this look okay for just wanting to lose some fat and get muscle groups into shape?

You're off to an OK start, but your diet looks like it's lacking in some areas, mainly pre/postwo nutrition and healthy fats.
