Raw Eggs This is Why they are safe
So many threads are started on this. Lets explain why they are safe.
1. These are how many chances you have to getting salmonella.
300 000 000(americans) x 365(each everybody eats 1 egg a day) =
109.5 Billion egggs. 109.5 billion eggs / 40 000(report salmonella cases per year) = 2.7 million.
SO this means you have about 1 chance out of 2.7 million eggs to get a salmonella eggs. First of all you wont get to that number. Second, if your between the ages of 8 to approximately 65, and in regular health. You have NO chances.
2. Do research, most source will agree to say, it is do to COOKED eggs not eaten right away. Eggs that have been left at room temperated for hours and is then eaten.
3. Your hydrocloric acid in your stomach, if it can burn your finger, it can surely destroy bacteria.
4. "My best gains have been on eating 36 eggs a day, so get crakin'!" -The Iron Guru, Ginve Gironda

Statistics are all well and good... but I know someone - a bodybuilder - who's come down with Salmonella from eating raw eggs. Puts me off of ever trying it!

I agree with you. You saw a bad experience up close. I probably wouldnt either. Even if i saw my friend win the lottery, guess what, it would not motivated me to by tickets.

"Scientists estimate that, on average across the U.S., only 1 of every 20,000 eggs might contain the bacteria. So, the likelihood that an egg might contain Se is extremely small - 0.005% (five one-thousandths of one percent). At this rate, if you're an average consumer, you might encounter a contaminated egg once every 84 years."
From this site: http://www.aeb.org/LearnMore/EggSafety.htm
Keep in mind, it's from the American Egg Board. But still...

Not to a t but I belive in the high protien, higher fat low ,carb diet, I prefer more flax, olive oil vs as much saturated fat, and I used his 'weight gainer' with success it consisted of heavy cream, raw eggs, and protien powder, I also used alot of beverly internatinoal beef liver (who was sponsering me)

Heavy cream has been reported to increase protein uptake as well. I need to go back on that stuff. It was great since I can't drink milk.

WRONG. It kills MOST bacteria, but some can survive and cause illness. Ever heard of E Coli? What about Cholera? Oh and Salmonalla too.

I can only imagine he is referring to the fact that increased intake of sat fat is thought by some to increase levels of test (not much evidence), which would then lead to increased protein uptake.

there are a lot of nutritional factors that would/could make WHOLE eggs "anabolic"...

I believe he was saying that egg whites "are" ****...as opposed to "the" ****.
But that is neither here nor there. Whole eggs ftw.
QUESTIONs:
Isn't the selma on the the surface of the egg shell, as opposed to the inside of the egg? If so, eggs could further be washed if one was fearful of selma...I may be mistaken altogether, though.
Are there any side effects to consuming whole eggs [besides bacterial infection]?
Be careful with raw egg whites with no yolks: http://www.worthington-biochem.com/AV/default.html

LOL you're right. I guess I added "the" in my mind as I was reading that.
You've gotta give me a break though, I was fasting last night for a blood test
Speaking of that I'm off to the doctor's office.
Definitely whole eggs FTW.

The reason for cooking eggs is more for increasing protein absorption rather than killing salmonella. You lose half of the protein by eating the egg raw.

Well, my fear of salmonella has slightly declined...but what about the protein content differences between cooked and raw?
