Hi, my name is Stacie Keebler.
Growing up, my parents never approved of the tattooing of the body; they still don’t. In fact we weren’t even allowed to write, paint, or draw on ourselves. If my mother saw that we had written something on our hands, even if it was a list of all our homework assignments for the day, she immediately made us go wash it off. Inevitably, we were given the brusque, straight to the point, lecture of how tattoos are for gangsters. Tattoos are for those people who worship the devil. Tattoos are for sluts and vagabonds. She would always end her speech with “do you want to be one of those people?”
Tattoos are so taboo in the culture that we live in. The main reason for this is because we should treat our bodies with respect. Our bodies are the house of God, they are temples and we should do everything in our power to respect them. I entirely respect this belief and if I was committed to my religion I should be thinking the same thing. But the honest truth is that I love body art. I have always loved body art and I’m afraid I will always love body art. Please still be my friend.
BALANCE is a big word in my life. There is a man in the Guinness world records who has 99.9 % of his body tattooed with a leopard-skin design. 99.9 %!! This is so ridiculous to me. There has to exist a balance. RESPECT is another big word in my life. I understand that we all need to be ourselves and not apologize for who we are. However, some people are attention seekers and they will do anything to get a reaction out you, even if it means disrespecting humanity. I was at the Home Depot buying Scottish Isle green paint for my wall I went and stood behind this man who had a tattoo on his left calf. This tattoo looked like it had been inspired by one of the playboy models. This woman was half devil half porn star. It was just so offensive because to me that is an act of diminishing women. How is that significant in his life anyway?
There is good music (Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune) and there is bad music (Britney Spear’s one more time.) There is good food (Little Caesars five buck pizza) and there is bad food (vital organs of animals.) There are bad tattoos (Your name or even worst: your girl friend’s name) There are good tattoos (a symbol that has deep meaning to you.) Meditate, contemplate, excogitate, ponder, and give it some serious thought before choosing a design. It’s definitely something that you thoroughly want to invest your time in. I first was going to get a shamrock because I truly believe I’m Irish. But what a pain in some archeologists, butts it will be when in the year 4000 they find my mummified body, they can tell by my body that I must have been Hispanic, but the shamrock tattoo totally throws them off. Even thought I still think I’m Irish, I think I’ll be okay without the permanent picture of a shamrock. The most interesting tattoos to me are the ones that really mean something to people. I also think it’s so tacky when these big muscled boys get the wrap around the arm tattoos of a chain, a barb wire, or Polynesian warrior chains. It’s just a trend. Or how about the “butterfly” on the lower back on girls; do they care about butterflies? Do they know how many species of butterflies there are? Do they pick up the dead ones from a hiking trail so they don’t get all decapitated? I don’t think so.
I’d like to think of a tattoo as a reminder of something that has always been important to us, is presently important to us, and will forever be important to us. I know you are thinking, “She needs a tattoo to remind her of important things in life?” And that’s when I say: I also like to think of them as art; an expression of one’s originality. If you are going to do something that is so permanent, you need to let it be artistic and original. There is a young mom here at the center that recently got a tattoo. Although it was in her lower back where she might expand in a few years and I’m afraid she will regret it, she had the zodiac signs of her husband and her two sons aligned together into this cool symbol. Even though I don’t think I would ever do this, the love for her family was admirable. When I asked her whose zodiac signs they were, she responded “it’s the signs of the most important people in my life: My family.” The way she said it was just touching. There once was a girl in my life named Cory, she was a naturalist and an environmentalist. She had a deep concern for the earth and was often involved in causes to repair it and make it better. She too had a tattoo, and I think her tattoo has been my favorite out of all the tattoos I’ve seen. She had the Lorax standing by a Lorax tree. If you are familiar with this book, you can understand why this design was important to her.
Tattooing yourself with ink is just as permanent as choosing a husband and staying with them FOREVER. Are you going to regret your husband? No. There may be times when you can’t stand him but you learn to love that part of him. Just like a tattoo. He is going to wear out and get wrinkly but he still will be so cute, just like a tattoo. Sometimes you might wish you could have chosen a different model, just like a husband. I think that I’m going to have a real hard time finding a Christian husband having a tattoo. But the good thing is that it will allow me to eliminate all the close minded boys out of the list. Would you marry someone with a tattoo? Would you really?
Maybe it’s rebellion. Maybe it’s culture. Maybe it’s popular. Maybe it’s just to piss your mom. Maybe it’s a form of expression. Maybe it’s a part of who you are. What drives people to get tattoos? Have you met people with tattoos that you thought were awesome? If they weren’t taboo, what would you get? Where would you get it?
I especially want to know what you would get.
Yours truly,
Stacie Keebler

That is ALL you needed to write in your post. You wrote 7 paragraphs when you could have just written the above. If you want to get your point across, don't just ramble on. State your question and move on.
