Phytonutrients/Fruit Concentrates = Amount of Whole Fruit

Hello,

I have a question the Phytonutrient/Fruit Concentrate content of antioxidant supplements. I already eat multiple pieces of fruit a day and it got me thinking how many milligrams/grams of particular phytonutrients of different fruits comprise a piece of fruit. Obviously the antioxidant supplement would not have the other goods like fiber.

I ask because it is confusing reading an antioxidant supplement label and seeing things like:

Fruit Concentrate:
Goji Berry 1200mg
Organic Acai Berry 600mg
Pomegranate 300mg
Indian Goose Berry 215mg
Mangosteen (Including Pericarp) 200mg
Prune 200mg
Blueberry 175mg
Raisin 150mg
Cranberry 140mg
Strawberry 125mg
Acerola Berry 110mg
Apricot 90mg
Raspberry 70mg
Cupuacu 55mg
Blackberry 40mg
Sea Berry 35mg
Elderberry 35mg

Phytonutrients:
Rosehip Extract 250mg
Green Tea Extract 140mg
Apple Extract 70mg
White Tea Extract 35mg
Rosemary Extract 30mg
Grape Skin Extract 30mg
Olive Leaf Extract 15mg
Bilberry Extract 15mg
Grape Seed Extract 15mg
Pine Bark Extract 10mg
Corn Silk (Zea Mays) 10mg
Quercetin 5mg
Lycopene 5mg
Resveratrol 2mg

What do these amounts translate into with regards to whole fruit?

Cheers

It impossible to say.

Take the first part, fruit concentrate fopr example. Does this jsut mena a concentrated form, ie dehydrated form. 200mg of a dried prune isn't much.

Then they go onto phytonutrients, but they don't list what it is standardized for. Green Tea extract is extracted for what EGCG and at what %, we don't know. We don't know what extract they are using so it might not even be the correct one and obviously might be overlooking others.

There is no way to really translate it to an equivalent of whole fruit. This is a supplement meant to augment your fruit intake, never replace it. I still think these products are worth taking in addition to a balanced diet though but I don't think you can compare them to whole fruits.
