What are some good reasons to goto University ?

Alright, If all goes to plan I will begin at University in February of next year. Yep, I'll be studying fitness & nutrition. At first a friend of mine was scheduled to start aswell on the same course as he has basically the same intrests as me. But then yesterday he called me up, said he spoke to his mom and dad and decided against the whole idea. According to his parents, they were worried about the debt he would get, also they wanted to see how the economy would change. Thing is we both live in a small little town in Sweden with about 30,000 people. The University we were planning to goto is located in London, pretty damn cool if you ask me. Swap a little small run down town and move to one of the biggest cities in the world! . BTW im english, So the language is going to be no problems, im 18yrs old, wanna make something of my life .

To all the people who are at University or completed it, please give your inputs on the good and bad stuff about going to University, thanks. Maybe I can change my friend's mind!

Going to university is an investment. If he invests in it, he has a huge chance of making back what he put in since the degree would give him much more opportunities to do so. If he does not invest in it at all, he would have a much lower chance to make something out of anything.

He can always make back the money, but time cannot be bought back. If he doesn't go to school now, he might waste more time looking for a mediocre paying job which would take even longer to pay for university tuition, if he even goes back to school. Chances are, he may not even.

Yep I agree. His mom also told him he would be better off getting a job in town and working for a few years before he even thinks about University. Sure, he would gain by doing that in short term, getting money and all. But obviously University is going to open up far more opportunities, higher paying jobs. Like you say, if he doesnt go back to school now chances are after working for a few years he will most likely never go back. BTW he is 20. So now would be a good time to start. Thing is, a few days back he was all set on going then he spoke to his mom and she filled his head with some crap. I just feel as if his mom is holding him back from making something of his life.

making more money is the only good reason to go to university. If you can go to university where you live instead of london, then do it.
