Green beans supreme
This is a recipe that my friend cooked for me once and i had to get her recipe and share with you all , ofcourse you can substitue bad items for healthy ones if you need to , but it was so so good.
Recipe she got from the home and garden web site.
1/2 tsp grated onion.
2 tbls butter or margarine.
2 tbls of all purpose flour.
1/2 tsp sugar.
1/2 tsp salt.
dash of pepper.
1/2 cup milk.
1/2 cup dairy sour cream.
2 11b cans of french style green beans drained.
4 ounces swiss cheese shredded (1 cup)
In a skillet cook onion in butter slightly , about 1 min.
blend flour , sugar, salt , pepper. Add milk all at once and cook till thick and bubbly. Remove from heat.
Stir in sour cream , add beans , spread 1/3 of the beans mixture in a 1 quart casserole dish , sprinkle 1/2 the swiss cheese over the beans, repeat layers ending with beans.
Topping:
1/3 cup cornflake crumbs.
1 tbls butter or margarine melted.
Combine cornflake crumbs and melted butter or margarine, toss until well mixed.
Top beans with cornflake mixture.
Baking:
Bake in hot oven 400 degrees f. for 20 minutes , makes 8 servings. Note i use more onion approx 3 tbls , also 8 more ounces of cheese , additional cornflake mixture will be required.
Now im hungry and must go eat.

Sounds yummy! Those concerned could substitute low-fat or non-fat dairy. Most of the time I use Olivio as a butter-type spread. I'll print this out. Thanks for the recipe.

shame there is no ground beef or steak in the mix. Sounds like a good idea. An alternate lasagne.

I think chicken or beef would be great added to it. We had it as a side dish at thanksgiving.
The swiss cheese made it really good.
Good thinking teewoods.

Mmmmm Swiss Cheese!
You know, cooking USED to be my passion. It’s much better when you're cooking for someone or a group of people. I seem to put more effort into it. Something about seeking the satisfaction it gives one when we see people enjoy our meals.
Since I’m always busy and have little time to eat or cook my meals. I usually treat myself to something nice over the weekend when i have time.
I have this long list of must-cook meals. Last week it was: Quail with red wine sauce. This week, still undecided, but i'm having friends down so i think it might be barbecues with every a huge variety of meats.
Regarding mincemeat. I NEVER buy mine form the butchers. I don’t care even if they put a big placard saying extra, extra extra lean. I just buy mine lean meat, and strip every bit of fat. Then i put it all in my meat grinder. (you can buy them at an affordable price).
Mince is the fastest way to cook meat. I get it done in 10mins. And just throw it on my Yam or beans.

I drain the fat then run hot water over it to remove the fat , some people even boil it to remove unwanted fat.
