For People That Have Taken Accutane...
What were the side effects you experienced? I read it can lower test levels and cause sexual dysfunction. After being on accutane for a couple months I have no sex drive at all. Im going to the doctor has anyone else experienced this problem while on accutane? If so what did you guys do? Can my doctor help me at all because I feel like a 45 yr old man that needs Viagra.

I never had a diminished sex drive. I was just extremely dry. My vision became a bit worse the last two months as well, but it was fine afterwards. Maybe your doc can help you, your best bet is to ask him.

I have never taken accutane mainly because it's a systemic drug. Why take that when you only got zits on your face and/or back?
If you want a cheaper alternative, try Adapalene. I believe its a derivative of accutane. It is in cream form so you can only apply it to your face and it doesnt enter your blood. It also has less severe side effects and it worked for me.
Google it.

about a month but you have to stay on it. I might stop taking it because of the sides or lower my dosage. refer to top to see my main reason for wanting to maybe lower dosage

erythromycin is for bacterial acne. If you get really oily skin, erythromycin won't block the sebum glands for you, which also cause acne by clogging pores.

A month my ass, took me five months! My derm. said the second month is always the worst because that's when the accutane pushes all the deep pimples to the surface. I had no side effects except a VERY small drop in sex drive. But the accutane cured my acne and accutane basically IS the cure for acne. I've been off of it for about 6 months and still haven't seen a pimple/zit/etc. And I had BAD acne. Only bad thing about accutane is you would expect it to work quickly and get rid of pimples within the first few weeks, well for me it took about 4-5 months for my face to clear up and you HAVE to have chapstick with you all the time because your lips will crack

man, accutane for me was an experience ...
EXTREMELY dry skin, really bad mood swings, slight depression, reddish skin, achey joints ... it affects everyone differently.
i remember when i played basketball, i was dribbling coast to coast & when i planted to do my layup, my leg collapsed under the weight of my body and i fell like a dumbass ... my joints in my knees were so sore & weak that they couldn't support the weight ... i played it off like i twisted my ankle. ball still went in, too ... anyway ...
it worked, for the most part. i still get the occational pimple, but nothing like it used to be.
acne was probably one of the toughtest things i've ever had to endure ... it wasn't horrific, but maybe i'm just so obsessed with vanity ... i don't know.
take that for what it's worth ...

accutane worked great for me. the only bad side-effects i felt were dry skin/lips and joint pain. i relieved them with facial moisturizer, a cocoa butter lip balm and a gluc/chon/msm combo pill. your skin will also become very fragile so don't pick at it. i never had that initial serious breakout that a lot of people claim to get either.

Accutane rocks.
I was on 40mg a day for like 5 months and it worked great. Cleared up my skin well, but then I joined the army so I had to stop.
I had extremly oily skin, so all the other creams or antibiotics were worthless.
Now im going back to 60mg for a shorter period (my acne isnt bad at all). Woo hoo
I only had dry skin and dry lips.

no, more like a dull ache. it's fairly easy to manage. the pain reliever in aleve helps a lot too, i think it's called naproxen sodium.
