60 storey house....FOR ONE FAMILY!!!
Oh my GOD, what has this world come to...lmao Before you read the article, take a guess at what industry this guy is in.
Quote:
This 60-storey house is for just one family.
India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is planning a palace in the heart of Mumbai with helipad, health club, hanging gardens and six floors of car parking.

60 storey house
This 60-storey house is for just one family
His wife, mother and three children will live there with him, looked after by 600 live-in staff.
Construction has already started on what will eventually be a 175m tower and planners are aiming to complete it in September 2008.
Earlier this year, Forbes rated Mr Ambani as the richest resident Indian with a net worth of US$20.1 billion.
He came 14th in Forbes' 2007 worldwide rankings.
Currently he is chairman of petroleum major Reliance Industries Ltd, India's largest private sector company
The building, already worth ?500 million, could start a rush on skyscrapers.

uhm...that building looks unstable...but the hanging garden looks awesome...i'd hate to be the gardener though.
i think this is the same guy who has a huge palace already...must be his getaway home he's making.

As an architecture student and someone who works in a firm I understand the disgust for living way beyond you means, but as architecture fanatic I am trully excited with this kind of stuff happens. For the most part though houses are becoming smaller because families realize they don't need such large spaces.

If I had that much money I'd buy the worlds supply of coins and put them in a giant vault and swim around.
...And then I'd realize you really can't swim in metal, and i'd get pissed off and wonder what to do with so many coins....

2 maids per floor put that already upto 120 people.
Damn, I'd love to tour the house once it is finished though.

His dad (Dhirubhai Ambani) made the money and the business starting from zilch. A very inspiring story that one. This dude and his brother, however, have been fighting over the inheritance publicly.

That's kind of stupid IMO..
I'd rather have it spread out over land instead of in the air on floors..

i'd feel hella uncomfortable with all that space
i like having a room that's big enough for my stuff but not so big that i have to walk anywhere
**** son, did this guy ever think that 60 stories would prolly mean that he'd have hella unused and unseen rooms?

How much is ?500 million in US dollars?
Not hating, but it just seems madd ignorant to me. Plus its not much of a getaway being right in the heart of a metropolis. The architecture isn't even modestly high on my WOW FACTOR scale.

Mumbai is like any big city, New York, Tokyo, etc. ZERO place to build. So the majority of it has to be in the air. Can you imagine how much land they'd need to build a building that big horizontally?
Has to be in the air.
